Do you think that its possible that Episode VII will ignore the prequels, act like they never happened?

no, infact to make the episodes fully intergrated 1-9 they will have to play lip service to the PT at least, tho this foes not mean a Jar Jar return, ironic as he is a very Disney esque character

I don't even see how the prequels will be relevant given how far they were in the past in relation to the ST timeline.

    But no.

    Anakin's turn, Palpatine's rise, Big 3's birth
If Disney decides to appease the bashers. I dare them to do that.

Pleasing the hateboys would be the dumbest and most moronic thing to do.

I would like to point out that the infamous "average viewer" is apathetic about the prequels.

Exactly, the prequels aren't going to have any relevance in the new era because it takes place so long after them. It isn't a matter of apologists vs haters at all. I don't know why this thread devolved into that sort of think so fast.

Anakin's turn and Palpatine's rise aren't relevant enough for anything other than a passing mention, given that both characters are dead.

And why would Luke and Leia's birth be important? Are their kids going to be looking at baby pictures?

The prequels are where Anakin turned, where Palpatine rose, and where the big 3 were born.

Seeing as the creation of a new republic will probably involve some discussion of the old, no.

And we have no solid reason to believe that Anakin and Palpatine have any role in Episode VII. And I don't even remember the last time I talked about my birth, so I'd hardly call the birth of Luke and Leia relevant.

People always talk about Nazi Germany. People always talk about the Founding Fathers.

That's like reading a novel and burning the first third. Of course they will not ignore the PT. In fact, if they're smart the ST could explain a lot about the PT.

The only relevance is maybe the revisiting of old locations and possibly a picture of Padme in Leia's house/apartment. And perhaps Anakin as a Force Ghost. Other than that no.

Not in everyday conversation they don't. Besides, most of what would be talked about at this point in time was part of the OT's storytelling too. So it wouldn't be much of a direct shout out to the prequel era.

Seriously this Haters vs Apologists think needs to stop. Otherwise the next few years are going to be painful.

I hope the fact that Palpatine engineered the Invasion of Naboo and the Clone Wars will be mentioned.
These are movies about war and government.

its Episode 7 of a 9 part story to make any sense it has to reference the early part of that story, particularly as the main theme is family - i really want to see a junkyard scene where we see bits of old Naboo fighters,IG robots and maybe a podracer or two
