Saga Will to Live - RotS AU Padme/Anakin/Vader/Obi-Wan etc. (updated 12/19/12)

Title: Will to Live

Notes: This is yet another RotS AU, I've never written anything quite like this, so if i mess up please forgive me.
Edit: Sometime in December of 2012- this is a story that I began when I was... young. That was...lets see... somewhere around 6 (or is is 7...?) years ago. I am now ...not as young... I recently dug up my notes and further posts for this story and, upon deciding that I didn't hate it completely, chose to continue it to its completion (since I have a terrible habit of not completing stories). So, here we go again.

Will to Live

"Anakin has fallen to the dark side."
No. This cannot happen, he's lying!
"I saw him...killing younglings."
No... Nononono.
How could he do this to me!
"Padme?"
No! "You're going to kill him?"
"He has become a very great threat."
He is going to kill him. Nonononono...
The Republic cannot die. But neither can Anakin.
Something must be done.
Something... "Obi-Wan, wait. I know where Anakin is."

"Obi-Wan, wait. I know where Anakin is."
He looked at her sadly. "I figured that, but are you going to tell me where he is?"
Breath, in. out, in. out. "Yes, but I need you to agree to something first."
"Padme, I must find Anakin."
"NO! It cannot end like this. Obi-Wan I want you to wait."
"What?"
"I want you to wait, I'll tell you where he is, but the place where he is, is no place for you to fight. And if my plan works you wont need your lightsaber at all." This must be planned carefully.
"Padme, he must be dealt with now!"
Stubborn man! "No, Obi-Wan, I want my husband to be able to watch his child grow up. And not as the thing he is now! To save him we can?t just go rushing in guns blazing!" Carefully Padme, carefully, you're walking on thin ice now.
Obi-Wan took a deep breath, let it out and relented to my argument, "So do I Padme. I'll wait for him to return, but what do you suggest in the meantime?"
Breath? it worked. Ok, part two. "I want to bring down Palpatine. Carefully and without him noticing a thing until it?s too late."
He stared at her. "Don't we all. How do you suggest we bring him down?"
Just the question I was hoping for, "Obi-Wan, do you still have to passwords for the senate building security tapes?"

"Yes, but they must have been changed by now."
"No, it?s too soon; Palpatine is preoccupied with the Jedi and won?t have changed them yet."
"That won't last for long."
"That is why we must hurry."
"What do you plan to do with senate recordings?"
"I want to view them." I just hope they have what I am looking for.
"And what do you expect to find, Senator?"
"Evidence, Master Jedi. I want to be able to specifically point out as many of the moves that Palpatine has made against the republic as I can."
"But wouldn't you want the official recordings for that?"
"If I could get them without them having been 'looked over' first."
"You could."
"How?"

I'm loving this story more and more. If they manage to bring down palps (that's gonna be hard) can't wait to see what's gonna happen with Anakin.

"Why ever not? You are his right hand man's wife."
Breath Padme, Breath, in, out. He has a point.
This is insane; I'm actually going to agree to this.
Please, oh please, let this work.
"Alright, but how do we get in?"
"Like you said, you just waltz in there."

"Waiting for you."
"For me to do what, open the door for you?!"
"Precisely, now you're getting a hold of the plan."
He still has a point. And it just might work.
Anakin you are going to owe me big time when this is over.
"Once I'm in the building, how do I get into Palpatine's office?"
"You tell them you're going to sign over you're complete and absolute loyalty to Palpatine."
This is going to work. It has to work.
"What about Palpatine?"
"He's buisy."
"With who? Doing What?"
"Master Yoda. Fighting him."
"Master Yoda is in there! Well that should work out nicely."
"How so?"
"He'll keep Palpatine occupied and if he wins, end Palpatine's reign of power."
"And if Yoda loses?"
"We'll have all the tapes and recording's we'll need to bring Palpatine down."

Wow, this took a long time to write. School has been taking over my life.

A quick note: This post jumps a little bit ahead of where i last left off. The empty space will evetually be explained, but that comes later.

Anyway...

Yoda lost?
How could he lose?
We got the tapes though. There?s plenty there.
But so much of it has been tampered with?
We have what we need; I have to believe we have what we need.
Anakin will be home soon.
So will Vader.
I have to hide.
But if I do, Ani and Vader will fight.
And Ani will lose.
I have to go home.
"Obi-Wan, drop me off here."
"Here? Padme it's not safe here."
"I have to go home."
"You can't go home now."
Yes, I can.
"Yes I can. Nobody knows it was me."
No need to say out loud what we just did.
There are ears everywhere.
"Keep these safe Obi-Wan, I'll contact you when I?m finished setting up."
"Be careful Padme."
"I will."
No need to say what we?re doing.
What we just did.
What we plan to do.
It's too late to back out now.

So, i know it's been a long time since i last updated, i've been buisy and to be honest i sort of forgot about it.

Black, he's dressed in black.
He even has a mask now.
A mask to hide behind.
How I wish sometimes that I had a mask.
Another face to hide behind,
Another person to be.
"Wear this tonight."
He has offered me a mask.
"A mask."
"Yes."
He smiles as if joking.
"We can match."
He is trying so hard to make me feel better.
I know he worried I would not follow him.
I know I should not have followed him.
It means I will have to betray him.
He knows this.
But he pretends.
We are the same this way.
I force myself to smile at him,
And take the mask.
I will play his game.

Ok, so here is the next part. A note, as far as i can tell, the dual between Yoda and Palpatine took place in Palpatines office, part of this post also takes place there at the same time, so just pretend fo the sake of the story that his office has several rooms and sections and that the dual between Palps and Yoda took place in a more inner office so as not to conflict with Padme's being in his 'office'. and now that you are all throughly confused, the next post.

Dreams.
Every night there are dreams.
Nightmares.
He comforts me, or he tries anyway.
Always my Ani is there to comfort me.
To try to comfort me.
It rarely helps.
Tonight sleep will not come.
Tonight I worry.
About Obi-wan
About The Plan.
About Anakin, or worse, Vader, reading my mind and finding out that I am going to betray him.
Betray, I cannot even think that word.
My thoughts will betray me.
My traitorous thoughts shift to that day in Palpatine?s office.
"I am here to pledge my support to the empire."
I don?t know how I managed to say that without choking.
Palpatine?s aid smiled, slow, calculating.
"We hoped you would join us."
"We?"
"The Senate of course."
"Ah, yes. The Senate."
The senate is all but non-exsitant.
My heart was pounding.
My hand shook as I signed the papers that legally made me a senator of the Galactic Imperial Senate.
The Queen of Naboo approved my decision.
Tomorrow there will be ceremony where myself, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma will all sign the papers again in front of witnesses, if not in front of the whole senate.
Yes. Palpatine knows who his enemies are.
My memories once again drift to that terrible moment where I agreed to support a tyrant, no matter my plans for later.
I swear I could hear Obi-Wan.
He followed me in past the outer office.
The guards eyes all trained on me, missed Obi-Wan as he slipped passed me and into Palpatine's private study.
And then back out again several minutes later.
Heart pounding, hands shaking, I pushed the papers towards the aid, not daring to trust my voice.
I was still trying to pull myself together as I left the office, Obi-Wan invisibly in tow.
Even the knowladge that now we had sufficiant information to get Palpatine arrested, and maybe executed, could not stop my shaking.

I stare at the dark swirling patterns on the bedroom ceiling.
Waiting for sleep to come,
And when it does,
So do the dreams.
Anakin and I are more alike than I originally thought,
We both have dreams,
relentless, relentless, dreams.

Today, there will be light.
I can feel it.
Today, my baby will arrive.
But he will come without the help of my husband.
It is all part of The Plan,
A way to make Anakin see that his dark powers aren't needed.

It is a miracle that both of the dark men were deceived.
Three days ago Anakin sent me to Naboo,
For my safety, he said.
Just like I wanted.
Just like we planned.

As soon as I was away, I put into use the small amount of shielding training that Obi-Wan had provided for me.
With any luck, my limited skill will keep the dark men from sensing my intensions, but?
No, I will give myself away, thinking like that.
Hidden nearby, Obi-Wan knows the exact time of my departure.
From there he calculates the time it takes to jump to light-speed.
As soon as I am away, he puts up the shield that we devised together.
This shield will hopefully prevent the dark men from sensing the day of my baby's arrival.
Hopefully.

Today there will be light.
But today there could also be great darkness.
My will is strong,
But if I am to die this day,
So be it.

"She looks just like you"
My mother says.

She does look like me. But her eye gives her away.
Her one, single icy blue eye.
She is her father's daughter.
Her brown eye is gentle.
And I know,
She will not be corrupted.
Luke's twin blue eyes confirm this.
