Episode 3 if done correctly could be the best movie in the entire Star Wars Saga.

Silly dahveed72, you make no sense.

You still haven't answered my question Dahveed72. I know you'll see Episode 3 when it comes out.

Well, although AOTC was NOT a good movie by any scale, it was a reasonably entertaining SW flick. And those scenes that were particularly lousy (and i think you guys know which ones im talking about) actually served as comic relief for myself and the late night Boston audiences.

Ive been a SW fan since i was 5 years old (born in 72). I had the sheets, the action figures (i still have my 12" Boba Fett), and since my b-day is on Halloween my mother used to make me SW costumes from scratch (i was Luke for my 5th b-day). And of course ive seen all the movies multiple times.

the point is, im a total sucker when it comes to SW. If Lucas makes the movies, ill (eventually) watch them. even if i anticipate them sucking.

of course my expectations have been lowered significantly since the movies came out, but i still hope to be entertained by ep 3. and even if i didnt, id STILL see the dam movie.

and believe me, there are many many people out there just like me. so please, unless you want to reveal your stupidity (not thinking of anyone in particular here) please dont bring up the box office to me EVER EVER AGAIN. At least not as proof that a dud like TPM is somehow BELOVED by the masses. right

after all, i HATED TPM, but i still saw it 3 times. twice at theater, and once on DVD. most of us bashers, in fact, were DESPERATE to like these movies.

Despite your attempt not to direct the comment at anyone in particular, dahveed, "so please, unless you want to reveal your stupidity" is not an acceptable comment.

The box office point is just as valid as any argument you've made. One referring to it does not make one stupid, nor does an opinion of the box office and what it represents.

If you love to hate SW movies, more power to you. Personally, I'm glad that you help contribute to the rise of the SW box office revenue, regardless of how you feel about the movie. However, I would like to remind you of something:

From The JCC Guide to Better Posting:

A person is said to be "trolling" if he/she starts a thread with the obvious intent of riling up the other members, and to "get a rise out of them".

Your opinion concerning TPM and AOTC is legitimate. You are entitled to hate the films just as much as anyone else is entitled to love them. However, your opinion is just that...an opinion. Please consider this instead of coming in here as if stating a fact in order to create a big basher/gusher war.

That being said, in response to the original topic: I love all five of the SW films. I have a passion for them. While TPM is at the bottom of my list, I certainly did not think it was "jaw-droppingly awful." It is still a SW film to me, and I will always love it.

AOTC is my favorite SW film to date. It took a lot to boost it to the top spot above the OT, but it has all of the elements needed to make it a near-perfect, enjoyable SW film for me.

Therefore, I have no doubt in my mind that I will love EP3. All GL has to do is continue what he's done the last five rounds, and all should be well. So, I don't need EP3 to be better than I & II.

I dont hate AOTC!! Unfortunately, like most gushers, you see and read what you want to. I enjoyed AOTC , but its hardly a great movie.

And dont hold your breath waiting for me to use a weak, redundant phrase like "IMHO" cuz it will never happen. blame my 9th grade English teacher.

Episode 2 "...had most of the same problems as TPM..."

Dahveed72, remember the above. How can you enjoy Attack of The Clones when you think The Phantom Menace is "jaw-droppingly awful..."? Make your mind up.

    dahveed72,

Your comments are confusing. You enjoyed AOTC but you still think it sucks?

Nobody's reading anything more into your posts whether they're a gusher or not. People are simply reading your posts in this thread and finding them contradictory.

Here we go again. If someone simply loves Star Wars for being Star Wars, they don't have any sense of critical perspective. BS. I'm glad I'm not as serious and bitter as some of you folks who can never stop beating up the new films.

I'm in complete agreement with you. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Dahveed-Can I ask you just what you feel makes a good movie? I'm not trying to attack you, just trying to see what your criteria for judging is. Personally I think any movie that's entertaining and stands up to multiple viewings is at least worth a B-. But that's just me. :)

To the original question...I loved AOTC and I ...well I was okay with TPM. I'll be happy if EpIII is at least as good as AOTC, and I'll be a little disapointed if it's only another ROTJ, but probably not a lot.

[face_plain] I have a bad feeling about this thread. It is serving no purpose other than to create and bring rise to conflicting viewpoints. There is no decent discussion going on. It will be an all-out flame war before too long, if something doesn't change.

Cant we all stop flaming and start seeing the common good here. Star Wars is great. Thats the common good. Go for that.

I'm sick of those snobish people who go see movies, always complain right after, wait for me to get the DVD's and stuff, and take advantage of me.
I mean if you don't like Starwars fine, (i'm really talking to all those people outhere who will recognize themselves) but please stop talking about what you don't know.
I mean, i have friends who called TPM a piece of crap, stole my DVD the day after the release's day, and wait to see AOTC on the opening night to complain again.
I think you're not starwars fans, you're cynical boring grown ups who only care about your phone bills and your porn-supscription.
So on May 2005, please don't dare to go to the showing, stay home and watch "Amelie" with your geeky pseudo-intellectual friends. We, true SW fans will be able to enjoy the experience the same way i did in 1981 (Yeah i'm only 27-ESB's release)
To all the others, you guys are cool!
    My order.
    TPM
    ESB
    AOTC
    ROTJ
    ANH

ps: yes i love TPM more than ESB and AOTC,
I'm being honest, and i have my reasons !

Well I'll be honest there is no SW movie I cannot stand but only ANH and ESB engross me totally all the way through. For Episode 3 I hope they manage to make a film that does that for me again.

Not insulting the other films here they just dragged in the middle IMO although AOTC was less so I thought.

I hope that Episode III will be entertaining as always expected of a SW movie, yet because I possess gratitious amounts of free time I have devised a list of things I wish to see accomplished in Episode III. Important things, which may or may not have everything to do with the plot and the essential nature of the story.

-A senior member of the Jedi council must make more prophetic allusions to Anakin urning to the Darkside. The words 'Chosen One' and 'one who will bring balance should be used at least five hundred times per line spoken by any memeber."

-Various growls of Chewbacca every five seconds over the soundtrack to assure Lucas hasn't turned his back on the OT

-A short expository scene to explain the exact scientific mechanism in great detail of how midichlorians act as channels for the Force. There then must be the obligatory ominous toned statement of how science is the essence of evil, and cloning is very very naughty. Remember kids!

-Members of the Jedi council OTHER than Yoda, Mace, and conehead guy being allowed to speak

-Qui-Gon's return and his speech on the true meaning of the Force, complete with diagrams, graphs, 3d models, slides, and an assistant to demonstrate on.

-Anakin facing a youngling in a contest in which the cocky youngling lifts a small object to show up Anakin, and in turn Anakin merely smiles and effortlessly lifts two gigantic space cruisers behind him. (this is for no other reason than to show Anakin is FAR more powerful than Yoda because of his ugh...midicholorians)

-SW character getting slapped (it would be a SW first)

-Ewoks to ensure everything in the OT and NT nicely parallel each other. Being the third film, a music and dance number is required hence the ewoks will fulfil.

    -Ninjas

-A 1st person shooter like perspective with Anakin's metallic hand holding a lightsaber pursuing a fleeing in terror Christopher Lee. Cue Jaws like theme

-An incredibly gorgeous and skilled female Jedi Knight who flirts with Anakin in front of Padme for no other reason other than she is required to do by Western epic movie fantasy conventions to create jealousy and distrust amongst the current female lover and ensure a love triangle developes.
She and Anakin then must have a dueling scene of increasing sexual tension in place of the actual act in the way SW can still enjoyed by children and satisfy fans similar to me who are turned by acts of strange unwarranted agressive behavior between the members of the opposite sex because they don't have a girlfriend. Now, finally as required to die in the easiest, most affordable, and least timely way to resolve the conflict and move on to the more important story. (Must I add that she's evil also? It's sort of implied.)

-Yoda riding a snowmobile through Hoth. (please refrain from asking what he'd be accomplishing being in Hoth in the first place)

-A power reactor or some sort of device with an elaborate countdown mechanism that can only be deactivated using incredible amounts of the Force.

-Sidious to pull back his hood and reveal his true identity: (a character whom we've never seen nor would ever think to be associated with the Star Wars universe in any form of life.)

-Lastly, Obi-Wan standing with baby Luke Skywalker observing the horizions. Luke immediatly recognizes Obi-Wan as the parent, in which for whatever reason his first word is 'Ben' but nevermind. Because Luke lacks the necessary potty training, his first act ultimately strips Obi-Wan of all his dignity built up over 25+ years causing him only to utter the famous SW trademark line "I have a bad feeling about this."

What I blame your 9th grade English teacher for is the failure to teach you to capitalize the first letter of each sentence, to capitalize the use of "I", and the proper use of apostrophes with contractions. [face_laugh]
