I'm not overly optimistic that there are many people here who have read either The Winds of War or War and Remembrance, but I thought I'd give it a try and see.

I'll give my thoughts later on if there's anyone might be interested in them :).

I visited Pearl Harbor a few years ago and picked up the books there. Great, rich, detailed books. Wonderful characters- I love Pug Henry. I've never seen the miniseries but want to. Maybe they'll re-run it on one of the several thousand channels I have.

I don't suppose there's anyone else out there who's read the two books?

Geez, can you believe I can't remember whether I read these or not? I'm fairly sure I read Winds of War but I'm not so sure about War and Remembrance.

I've never read the books but I have seen the Mini-series. If I remember, it was Robert Mitchum and Ali McGraw. A bit over done at the time, but pretty good. Can you give a quick plot summary to refresh my memeory?

Are they linked, or do they have a similar theme?

War and Rememberance is a sequel and yes it continues with some of the same characters.
