    Hi there !

    After all, I started to build the surface of the second death star. On top of that I decided to create the reactor run through the tubing system to the reactor.
    First pics:

    [image=http://ahasver.ah.funpic.de/scene%201.jpg]
    [image=http://ahasver.ah.funpic.de/scene%202.jpg]
    [image=http://ahasver.ah.funpic.de/scene%203.jpg]
    [image=http://ahasver.ah.funpic.de/scene%205.jpg]

    [click to enlarge]

    You see that the beginning is made, but a lot of detail work has to be done.
    The crap is, that there´s no good photo from the surface of the 2nd DS, there´re only a lot of blurred scenes in the film. At least there´re 2 frames that can be used as stills, but are too dark to be used as a good photo to work on. If anybody has better pics, plz share them !

    Within the tubing system there are more frames that can be used. I have seen 5 different parts of the tubing system to be created - a lot of work I´m looking forward.

    Best regards
    thanx for your comments,
    Chris

    I started it today, so...

    I can see the pics, but maybe out of my cache, who knows...

    One last hint: Textures will be added later

    Apparently your server doesn't allow remote linking (linking to pictures hosted on your server). Many places don't allow this because it chews up bandwidth like no other! =) It looks pretty cool. I don't know of any better reference shots, but I'll keep an eye it. Looks pretty good so far, especially the big hole that Wedge and the Falcon fly into. Keep it up.

    To be honest i dont think you will need that many textures, wont it be flying past really fast anyway?

    Anyway, just keep on adding detail and stuff, good job!

    Thanx, I will not go too deep into detail, just put the right color on.
    Maybe I will also do a small video in witch a slow imperium shuttle passes by to bring some more material, guarded by some TIEs...

    Yea... show a reference with your pics that you are using so we can better comment. I think...? ... it needs more surface detail before you tunnel your way in.

    Hi there !

    @zoo & crunchy: I have posted some newer pics at

    www.ahasver.instantgallery.de

    I have not added more details, but have moved some details to the special place. The mesh has enough details (7646 KB), it´s just the question to move them where they can be seen... for the later movie I will just copy/paste or use the array-function to have more details be seen.

    @red-2: allthough I prefer feedback on my project I will answer your question: imageshack will not let me register: I have tried to register twice but never recieved any activation-email.
    Thank god you do not have to type the link by hand, a simple click on the link will also do ;)

    If anybody knows any other easy way to share (bigger and clearer) pictures, plz let me know.

    Best regards
    Christian

    Awesome work, just one crit; I think your reds are too bright. The reference photos from ANH and ROT show the red almost as like a pastel color (you know what I mean right, not darker but more grayish?). I think your red is just a tad too bright. Otherwise, great work!

    @joek1010: yes, your´re right. I also see a taste of blue in the red parts.
    So I changed the red color:

    ahasver.instantgallery.de/

    It´s the image made at 16.02.2005 19:43.

    Maybe I also should adjust the sunlight to get the right color on. The grey color also had to be a little bit adjusted.

    Much Better. I think the motion blur will really sell it.

    Thank you all for your comments.
    I started to make the first part of the tubing system.

    You´ll find a picture here:
    ahasver pics

    A reference picture is also shown. Just concentrate on the tubing system, I have removed all surface details.

    Some parts of the interior are at the wrong place and have to be moved. A beginning is done.

    Thanks for your responses,
    Ahasver

    So.
    Part II is done. This parts ends direct into the "power generator chamber".

    This is the reference pic:
    [image=http://img170.exs.cx/img170/7714/refsceneii11pn.jpg]

    And this one my creation:
    [image=http://img120.exs.cx/img120/971/sceneii30le.jpg].

    As always, the light is not 100% accurate, but the camera-view is ! (X-Wing by Mister-X)

    Happy modelling,
    Ahasver

    Looks good! The geometry is really nice. But the lighting could use a little work. I think that the main "faces" of the large rectangles should be much darker. Otherwise, great work. Is this for a specific project?

    No, it´s not for a specific project.
    I just want to re-film the "reactor running" from episode VI.
    BTW, has anyone recognized that 2 TIE fly into the reactor chamber, but only 1 TIE leaves.. There´s no detailed answer what had happend. If I finished these parts, I´ll be able to give that answer, I have some ideas... nice way to make a dog-fight in the reactor-chamber...

    Nice work thus far! I've been considering a dogfight or re-enactment of the escape from the chamber for a while...let me know if you need any help and I'll do what I can!

    So.
    Next section is on the way.
    For this time I have done the most details. Rest have to be covered by bump mapping. Textures have to come later.
    Although I know, that all tubes are round and go parallel into the same direction, the camera adjustment was not so easy as I thought.
    The lightning will be more difficult, because a lot of the illumination is done by the exploding TIE.

    Reference:
    [image=http://img40.exs.cx/img40/5826/refsceneiii2web5jj.jpg]

    This pic is done with self-iluminated wire-material.
    Shows really nice the fit of the model and the reference pic in the background.

    My pic solo:
    [image=http://img40.exs.cx/img40/7115/sceneiii14bi.jpg]

    Illumunation and texturizing are the next steps.
    I´ll keep you up to date.
