    back again...

I'm participating in the Hardcore Modeling Challenge over at CGTalk and the subject is Movie Icons, and good ol' Han (as he was in ANH) was one of the choices. There's a choice of modeling a bust or a statue, and I've gone for a bust for both my entries (John McClane is my other entry).

Originally planning to just do straight poly modeling with some bump maps I got to this stage

    2nd pass

It was at this stage I decided I wanted to try something different and took the model into Skymatter's Mudbox.

    1st MB pass

realizing I'd forgotten the ears (stupid) I had to export a low level mesh back to MAX model in some ears and then put it back into Mudbox and re-sculpt the details...

    2nd MB pass

I think if you block out the fact he is currently bald it does kinda look like him...

    thoughts?

Hmm.. nostrils seem kinda thick. I think it needs the most work around the eyes, and those are always the hardest. I suggest looking at facial anatomy sites to get an idea of general eyelid folds and corners of the eye, then compare those to Harrison.

the hair was an absolute bugger....lol....it looks okay but not 100%....fixed up the eyes alot and the cheeks as well.....

i'm going to do the bust as han in his stormtrooper armour....which is only because it'll be quicker for the challenge...lol...made a rough start on it but I'm going to redo it..

Your head is much better now. Looks really accurate. There's another guy over there at CGS doing Han and it's really good too.

I think his head might me too small, and it needs to go lower a bit, there's too much neck above the collar. And his hair should be parted down the middle, I don't think I remember any time where it was parted to the side.

The side view looks kind of funky. Front looks pretty good.

I know you were going for the face, but the armor is far from accurate.
