WIP: Kenner X-Wing Custom Paint Job

There's just one snag. I disassembled it to spray primer on today, being careful to keep all the pieces in a safe place. It was pretty easy, most of it was just removing screws.

I think I missed something in putting it back together, since when I push down on the R2 dome to open the wings, they open, but won't click into place like they used to.
That's the only real mod I made to the ship, I cracked off the dome so that I can add a more detailed figure on top of the mechanism. I've determined that's not the problem, as I've put it back in place for now.

EDIT: It occurs to me it's not a huge deal if the wings don't work. It's a custom job as is, so if I were to permanently fix the wings to be in an open position, I wouldn't be too torn up about it. It'd just be nice for them to work.
It might be because the R2 dome is no longer attached, so it's not strong enough to hold everything in place. When I put a glue a new figure on top of the catch and fix it all in, that might just do it.

Feel free to prove me wrong, but so far as I know no one's done this yet. My first model kit when I was younger was a Blue Angel F-18, so I've always had a soft spot for them. And as the X-Wing is by far my favorite starfighter (of anything), this just makes sense.
