Nice start. Can't find anything wrong with that (assuming later you will add the lights and details and stuff).

    A little test :

    (Google picture)

The mesh isn't finish, and shadows, ligthing, are very bad.... A little test of textures ! :)

Nice model, keep working. I mean keep design and detail it, in that pic it doesnt look pretty real yet. good work anyway

I liked the shadow, in the composition picture.

I have one advice which will improve a lot the realism, chamfer or smooth the edges, their so sharp(default), especialy when so close up.

All the black areas of your lightsaber seem like plastic. I'd lower the specular on them, brighten them a teeny bit, and find a a rust texture or soemthing to dirty it up a little.

The model is available here (3ds max 8 file) : http://gjproduction.free.fr/fanfilmssw/ressources_index.php#modeles3d

If you need it for a fanfilm... :)

id make it available as an .obj file or something more widely accepted on several 3d apps(not just for my own selfish use, lol) but .max files can only be used in max.

The quality of the .obj is very bad... [face_worried]
