Buff, NY WNY Toy/Comic & Collectible Show - March 12 - INTEREST

Found out I have play rehearsal early in the day on the 12th. I should be able to make it to the event by 1pm, 1:30 at the latest.

 

I should be able to make it. Perhaps... *dun dun dun* as a guard!

 

Bad news.....


Hubby's travel is crazy this month (2 weeks in San Diego... blahhhh) and I no longer am able to attend this event...

I am hosting the cookie baking on Monday so I am afraid that will be the limit of my contribution.

I will be with you in spirit. If anything changes then Leia will be there!!

 

I will be available, and will be able to work the table.

 

I made sure I was off this day.

How Can I Help?

 

Hey did we figure out how we are working this event.... Are we splitting group up into separate schedules or everyone just going when they can and for as long as they can. I know this place pretty well and its very big. But then again never been to one of these events so dont know how much room it will take up.

 

Got my schedule and both Elizabeth and I are going to be attending.

We should begin to hammer out times and confirm characters.

 

I spoke with Gil yesterday and plan to carpool with him. We don't need to arrive too early but I am looking at 9:40 to arrive and start setting up the table.

I will finalize the details and pass along the info as far as which door is best to enter and where we will be changing.


This will be a very relaxed event. We will be selling the cookies for the first time and offering our usual goodies for donations.

The following supplies will be needed:
1. banner ( I found it and will bring it along)

11. dedicated camera to use for pictures

Can someone please print a small sign (8x11 is perfect) that states "Proceeds benefit Compass House"? I have a sign holder we can use.

We appear to have a number of people available to work the table. this is an area that we should plan out and schedule coverage so that we don't have 8 people working a table and 3 costumers. If someone would like to volunteer to handle any photos and possibly some video, that would be great!

 

I can work the tables early. I believe Mary is coming with me. I was planning on being there earlier anyways to shop and then when I?m done, helping with working the table. If its needed, I?m sure Mary can watch the table while I look around (lol she always does that for me when were set up at flea markets). If you guys need me to completely fill in, or just relieve you as you take breaks and run to the bathroom, I?m available.

 

Larry has printed the requested sign(s).
We have also created labels for the collection cans, and will bring along a dedicated camera and photo request cards.

We have 11 costumes available for Saturday. Antoine can only appear from 10-11. Bryan will be there from 1:30 on. There are 4 table wranglers as well as non-helmeted charcters who can step in if needed. At some point, I would like to get out of costume and help as well. If the event is taking place at the same place as their previous show, I must cap the attendance with the current list. If you only want to appear for a portion of the show, please post so that we can tentatively schedule breaks/shopping times, etc.

To answer a question I saw, yes you are free to shop and buy whatever you'd like. We can take breaks and still have coverage at the table and for pictures. If you'd like to shop , then help, it's ok.

If you have trading cards, feel free to bring them.

Hey did anyone ever claim those prize baskets we auctioned off at library event. If not do we want to auction them off at this event to raise some money. Or maybe donate some stuff to auction off. Maybe throw in a free Birthday party appearance Gift cards to auction off? Just some random Ideas

 

Larry reached out a few times to the winner, but didn't get a response. I think we're using the same basket this time around.

That would mean that we would also need to add the raffle tickets to the list of things to bring.

I am bringing my 2 costumes and I can stay for longer now.

 

Looks like I may be there closer to 2. My rehearsal got pushed back to a slightly later time. Thankfully, I live very near to the event so I shouldn't be TOO late once we get out.

 

Upon arrival, give your name at the admission table. There is a list for NR so we do not get charged admission.

Everyone may want to bring a drink or snack. I am not sure if there is food available for purchase. I will be there at 9:30 and will meet those coming at that time outside.

If they don't have food there it shouldn't be a problem due to there being plenty of places to eat either next door, down the street, or across the street. See everyone shortly

 

I tried to make it the show by 9:40 but had little trouble with my directions, so I got there at 10:00. I end up buying stuff all day, but not too much for myself. I did see a vintage loose wicket from the ewoks series, but they wanted $30 with no coin or weapon. I posted an image down below of the star wars stuff I found at the toy show. But I also pick up other stuff like wrestlers, LOTR figures, and even some Godzilla toys. I was surprised I won the north ridge raffle basket, and think its only fair that I help with the next basket we raffle off. Before I left, I bought a bag of our cookies, and I regret I didn?t buy more. I forgot how much I like those. The show was a little slow, but I heard it was more crowded in the past. Any idea how much we raised for charity? I had a picture taken. Anyone know who I contact for it? Mary has the information, but I haven?t got it from her yet.
