Outgoing Defense Sect. Penetta will lift eliminate direct ground exclusion on women. This is good. Women have pretty much been in the field of combat for over a decade anyways, so why not make it offical?
They've been doing it anyway for over a decade with the support units they're assigned to often being ambushed. This just makes it possible for them to truly join the front lines.
your role model, roza shanina: remember the great service she performed killing fascists for the safety of the mother country and for the spread of socialism and ask yourself if you've ever been a part of anything as meaningful
personally I feel women have no place on he battle field. Its nice to think that women can be the voice of reason and allow the actual physicality of it up to the sex that was more biologically designed to see more rigorous situations such as a war front. To me, women fighting and killing is a step backwards on what separates us from more base line mammals. By nature they should be opposed to killing and destruction considering one of their main biological functions is to be the nurturer of children. It seems counterproductive to me
So long as the women are held to the same physical fitness standards as the men, I'm all for this. I do however, really wish the military would get its act together regarding the very real problem of women being raped by fellow soldiers.
Was wondering when the sexist, misogynistic point of view would come up... I don't see that happening anytime soon, especially as long as the majority of the military is headed up by old, white men.
A friend of mine served for 8 years, and she was in plenty of firefights in spite of not being "on the front lines". I personally would not be in the military, but women who are deserve the respect and pay afforded combat positions since they do a lot of that anyway.
Were there any indications this was coming? Seems kind of sudden: last time I recall the topic coming up, nothing of the sort seemed to be on the table.
@AaylaSecurOWNED I mean, I think any battle is counterproductive, but this is a really sexist stance. I wouldn't go as far as calling it misogynistic, because I'm really not seeing any hatred for women in this post, but it's definitely incredibly ignorant.
but youre 100% wrong.. if you wanna play hypothetical sure women can torture as well, using that as probably the most baseline thing a human being can do. but if you actually look at the evidence it proves to you without a shadow of a doubt you couldn't be any more incorrect... Like I stated its the reason why you see very few cases in which women are serial killers, or rapists etc etc etc, while men are almost always the culprits of those actions. only modern day humans such as yourself can use the brainwashing of the past 40 years to try and disprove billions of years of evolution and natural selection. evolution and biology has set up gender roles, not ones set by ignorant humans but ones set up by nature, the best ways our species can survive.. putting women on the frontlines to be killed would be counter productive to any species most basic function, which is procreation of the species.
A step in the right direction, but with tons or problems down the road. It won't be easy but with the nature of warfare now it was already near defacto status that women were in combat so they might as well make it official and give women the recognition they deserve.
Yeah, my line of thinking shifted when he talked to Juliet like she's an idiot. But I'm still going to attempt some sort of high road here... we'll see... here we go. Okay, @LandoThe CapeCalrissian ... I need to be clear on what you're saying here. I'm not going to get all "WOMEN CAN DO ANYTHING A MAN CAN DO" on you, because I think that's a goofy way to go about this conversation, but are you saying that a woman's sole purpose is to create and nurture children? What do you believe is the purpose of the women who cannot, or choose not, to have children? Do their lives have no meaning or purpose in your eyes?
