I am sorry for being sexist, but I am presuming that most of you out there have been screwed around by someone and how pissed you were. And I had just been told by my parnter of 3yrs that he had been trying to get rid of me the entire time and only now had the developed the balls to do so.

You just need to find the right person! Not all males are bumholes you know!

I know that I'm a really fantastic person overall! :p

Finding out is the interesting thing, and all part of life. And I know not all men are like that, but surely you know that feeling.

Generalization is very easy to do, and hurts more people, so the question I pose is why do we generalise. ie - dumb blondes.

It's so much easier to generalise than to bother to get to know everyone you meet I think. REduces the work load. Makes you feel like you know what people are like, without even trying. SO laziness is my answer

I think that people stereotype and generalise as a result of previous experiences...this is certainly the case with me...heck I really dislike the school of management here..and any management subject now gives me heart attacks....a bad experience with something makes me fearful when encountering similar things or circumstances to the original cause of my hurt..stimulus generalisation they call it

That is my sincere opinion on the cause of stereotyping /generalisation

Oh and I still don't have darling Anita :_|

How much longer do I have to be a sad and lonely :(

I think that people stereotype to help them understand. As Voltaire said "If God did not exist then the human race would have to invent the idea to explain what they did not understand, or fearful of."
No human like's to be proven stupid, so by not getting involved doesn't lead to hurt, and doesn't require the effort. Stereotyping is more comfortable on the psyche.

Sterotyping is done by those who are either ignorant or couldn't give two cahoots about those they are sterotyping. Add fear into the picture and you will sterotype even more easily. True acceptance comes from knowledge and understanding.

Philosphy, who would of thunk it, something of that calibre coming from me. :D

I get sterotyped just cause i wear all black dosent neserserly mean im a goth. Even my parent think this this. Im not a hard core goth just a average goth no make up or any of that devil worhshiping stuff.

It is worse when your parents stereotype you. I get stereotyped it two ways, one my job. Genetic engineer automatically makes me evil in the general population books. Two my hobby, car restoration. I have had mechanics talk to the closest male about my car, because being female I shouldn't know the difference between a crankshaft and a drive shaft. Let alone know where they are.

I'm sick of being generalised all the time too! Its always 'god isn't he lovely and so modest' or 'damn he's intelligent, cute and so manly' I wish people would take the time to actually get to know me and not base what they think of me on the notariety that follows me about! :p

I think everyone goes through a 'wearing black' phase. I'm currently going through a 'wearing white' phase. Bad for stains, however.

The worst sterotyping I get is when people find out I'm Christian. They automatically assume:

    I'm out to convert them.
    I'm against science.
    I'm homo-phobic
I think they are evil and going to hell
    I'm against everything fun
    I'm against other religions

and the list goes on. At Auckland Uni it's better to keep quiet about it, or you'll never hear the end of it.
