WonderCon celebrates its 22nd year as Northern California's most popular comics and pop culture event with a return to Moscone Center South on February 22-24, 2008. The February date solidifies WonderCon's status as the first major convention of the year in the United States.

*Children 11 and under free with an adult paid membership. Juniors: 12-17 years old. Seniors: 60 and up. This offer does not extend to dependents. Junior/Senior prices are half normal fees.

 

Wow! They sure moved it up early in the year. We'll have to start planning now, although we will probably go down for just Saturday.

I have never heard of it. What's it about?

 

It is a fun event, especially if you have never been. There are lots of other costumes than star wars there. I have fun just going to look. Earl likes to visit the vendors for collectibles.

It is about the same time as the last few years. In fact it was a week earlier 2 years ago.

I'm planning to go this year. I've been out of a big con since World Con in Anaheim two summers ago! However, I'm not sure if I'll go for the whole thing or just for one or two days.

The roommate and I, plus an Indie-Comic friend are considering going to WC 2008 together... less costume, but super awesome vacation time... hmm. Yeah, that'll do pig, that'll do.

It's never too early to start planning...

The Marriot is the "official" hotel and it's $190 a night for a quad. If enough people want to go down and make a full trip of it that's not too terrible to stay in a great San Fran hotel for the night.

*edit* Parking looks to be $50 though -- at the hotel. That hurts...

OR, if everyone wants to carpool, splitting gas and parking for the day would be way cheap.

It would be fun for us to do this as a group. How nice for us to go enjoy a Con and not be working it!!!

The Powell Hotel is nearby and charges ~115 night. Sounds like they either give complimentary BART tickets or free Parking. The roommate and I plan to stay there the entire weekend, Thur night-Sun.

I agree, this dicussion needs to be had at the party. It sounds like there are plenty enough of us that want to go to warrant making this an official trip.
