San Joaquin, CA WonderCon Return

We are back from WonderCon, finally. Well, we did not get back that late but later then had been planned. The con was fun and we saw many people that we have met before and also made new friends. Which reminds me...when we were at FIDM on the first fan day we met a very nice young woman in an incredible Padme costume. I did not hear her name at that time but on the second fan day she again was there and won first place in the contest for this beautiful Padme dress and was then told by someone (I can't remember who it was) that her name was Charolette. That was not correct. On Friday we ran across her at her FF table and learned her name is Kathy. (I hope I have spelled it right) I was embarrassed because I have been telling everyone about Charolette and the beautiful purple Padme dress when it should be Kathy and the beautiful purple Padme dress.

Lorenzo and family joined us the second day and it was fun watching him and Quinton pose for pictures. Sid'ious was well behaved, most of the time, and loved having his picture taken and the attention and the ear scratching. Barry showed off his new lightsabre and he and Derek won several raffle prizes. Oh, and I ran into Steven Sansweet and he graciously agreed to pose for a photo with Barry and Derek. That was nice.

For Cheryl, I shared an intimate moment with Kevin Smith. Okay, we held a door open for each other, which was sort of funny in a "no you go first" kind of way.

Masqerade was great. A General Grevious won the Lucas award which was a banner from CIII. The really big ones that hung from the top of the convention center. Grevious is going to need a really, really tall house. Also saw Kai and we had a short chat which was nice. Miss her on the boards.

This morning we went for coffee on the pier with Lorenzo and Quinton and then we had breakfast/brunch with him and the family before taking one last look at the convention and then heading for home. Oh, on the way home we stopped and bought a R/C tank for a new project that Barry and Lorenzo are cooking up. I've lost the sewing table to a tank.

Not much more. Am having trouble getting online because the DSL is acting up and then I lose it again. I have been able to read my mail and post this. Now I am off to bed.

i, too, miss kai. pleased you got to see her.

 

so glad you had fun! missed you all this weekend though.

*waves tentatively* I'm sorry I've been absent a lot, but it was fun to see MP, et al, backstage at the masquerade!

 

you know, i was doing ok with not having gone to the convention...

until i found out they advance-screened V FOR VENDETTA... the WHOLE THING.

and they were giving away those damn masks again, the ones they were giving away at comicon at the panel i missed, that i had to look at everywhere for the whole damn weekend...



(yeah, yeah... i know... "WAHHHH!")

 

I didn't find out about the screening until I began seeing people with those masks. I thought there had been another panel but then began to hear talk.

If I had known, I would have watched it for you. Then you wouldn't have missed anything.

well, had *I* known, i would at least have had you guys look for a mask for me.

*muttering darkly about movie companies that postpone release dates, and then screen movies at cons i DIDN'T go to*

oh well, hope it's a better movie for the wait. harlock seemed to like it, so there's hope!

 

Waves back. I'm only sorry I couldn't go, the mind was willing but the bank was weak (and a major part of our duel couldn't make it either). P.S. We'll forgive you if you post more often.

So maybe I should have gone over to the the area where they had the BIG V for V. banner and I might have found out about the screening. I mean it was right there; a couple of feet away at the same table that had the buttons and such to give away. I know about that because I was filling my bag with Superman buttons for everyone.

Hmmm. Yep then I might have learned about the screening and got to go see it and then called Cheryl. Or called her during the showing. Or called her during the showing while getting a mask as I bumped into Kevin Smith...

Okay, fantasy life getting out of hand. Running quickly for nearest exit.
