Discussions Wookiepedia and the new EU continuity

So.... does Wookiepedia becomes a huge "what if" repository.

 

Yes. The EU as we knew it is dead.

 

Wookiepedia can simply specify which of the story lines/characters/events occurred in the alternate universe now known as Star Wars Legends, and which of them occurred in the cinematic universe.

Nah, they can just have categories: 'Star Wars Expanded Universe' and 'Disney Wars'. Some pages will obviously be in both.

 

Probably like with comics' universes - they will specify different timelines.

Probably two Wikis would be the most efficient? A copy paste job to establish the new continuity on a new wikia and rebrand the old site? Also, as we discover which bits are kept and which aren't, that can be kept up to date.

This comes from a person with no understanding of website hosting and servers stuff.

 

Wookieepedia are inclusionists, therefore they will come up with a way to include both timelines. It'll be a giant pain, but I'm sure they'll figure out out.

 

I suggested a year ago on this site setting up a new wookiepedia page to preserve the story of the original version of the clone wars as told before 2008 and the stories of all characters involved. Another reason I wanted to make the page was EU works which might be contradicted by Disney. If anyone is interested in starting such a project, I am interested in helping to organize it and contributing to a new EU wiki webpage.

I would love to do that, if only just to preserve what I believe to be the Clone Wars. The only thing that would really need to be done is to look at the status of articles before TCW took over the Clone Wars timeline.

Firstly, it's not like all the pre-2008 content is actually good (IMHO). Just like not all of the 2008 series is good either (although improved season by season, I'm rewatching it now and enjoying it more).

Also due to the 2008 series certain plot lines like Omega squad did not end. I mean if you're doing a page about the boys you can't just stop at Order 66, and yet there was no proper end. Then you have Medstar which is tied in to the other Michael Reaves books. And so on.

I just think that purely isolating Clone Wars in a wiki takes away a lot from the stuff before and after it.

 

Zeta, yes, reverting articles to their pre-TCW status is all that would be necessary.

Darth 1138, I am not thinking of making the wiki only about the Clone Wars. I would like to cover all of the EU.

 

Whatever you do, there still will be sources that contradict each other...

 

It would be great to see Wookiepedia: Legends preserve all the delicious details that may be erased soon, at least until more has been clarified by the trilogy and spinoffs.

 

I'm still waiting for that glorious day that Wookiepedia says Chewbacca didn't die in the Vong war!

They have already announced several books being re-released with the legends strip across their covers. Just so no new buyers get confused and stop the revenue from coming in on anything

Not happy that they're treating the starwars.com encyclopedia as canon. It's just a website providing info on existing canon, just like Wookieepedia itself.
