My Question is why are the Wookies called Wookies? What was George Lucas reason for calling them like this?
I remember it has to do something with his dog, but don't remember it exactly.
    Can somebody help me?

    Why's a toydarian called a toydarien?

    Why's a twi'lek called a twi'lek?

Indiana was his dogs name. He was inspired by the dog to create a hairy, 7-foot-tall wookiee.

They're actually called Wookiees, not Wookies.

They are indeed Bib, but in the original script they were "shaggy gray monters called Wookees".

In the original script it was Wookie then there was book that came out and it had the word Wookiee, so Lucas decided to change it to the spelling in the book.
