JCC Words, phrases, etc, that need to go away in 2014

There's this amazing thing where you can buy whole seasons of television at a time and thus avoid a lot of irritation, you guys. Try it.

 

Yeah, that's a great idea for watching past seasons of shows you love/shows you want to get into (as I've been doing with Doctor Who this year), but you know there's this amazing thing about following a current show you like as it currently airs. From what I hear, and based off past experience, it can be quite an entertaining thing to do.

 

You gotta invest in it up front, and commit to it for several seasons, for something that might have an awesome first, even second, season and completely drop the ball on the third, but by that point, you've already invested three seasons into the damn thing and you suffer yourself through continued mediocrity and crap in following seasons because now that you've come this far, you just have to know what happens next and how it ends. With a movie, you have reviews and word of mouth up front, and if it still disappointed you, you only wasted 2 hours, not 200.

 

They all annoy me (except niiiice) but "the feels" makes me incredibly irate.

 

Can you explain this "feels" business to an antipodean who will likely hear it shortly when his country catches up?

Tunes, if you're asking if everyone wants you to stop saying 'nice' the way that you do the answer is that we do.

It was essentially a preventive measure, as folks would have likely suggested that if it wasn't a poll option.

 

Fortunately for me, I'm too old to know most of those. But I'd still like to vote "twerk" off the island.

I vote for selfie, amazeballs (don't know what that's supposed to mean, anyway....), chagrin, and the term epic fail used by anyone who isn't a nerd/geek...

To be fair, I don't think chagrin is really that overused (except by politicians and reporters - but then again I try to limit my exposure to the news to just the soundbites lately unless there's something vital going on overseas or an emergency here in the US), but I agree 'selfie' and 'amazeballs' need to go (though there's something hilarious about Malcolm McDowell saying it in those Sprint commercials)
