I know there are at least a couple other football fans in the house. In fact, I'm a little surprised that Debo hasn't started a thread already to go along with this one that he started in YJCC.

As for me, I've always been sort of a casual fan but I've really fallen in love with the game during this World Cup. There just seems to be so much more emotion involved than any other sporting event I've ever seen. And now we're down to the semifinals...

South Korea vs. Germany - coming up in just about 6 1/2 hours.

    and

Brazil vs. Turkey coming up the following day.

So, who do you like? What do you think of the Cup so far? How did your team do?

I'll be watching both of those, to make up for unwatched matches previously. Brazil: you can do it.

    Well, let's see.

I'd like to see Brazil vs. Germany in the finals. Just because they're the two big teams left.

It would be nice for South Korea to win, while being co-host. Too bad for them that the final game is in Japan.

Yeah, I'll be rooting for South Korea and Turkey, just because I'm not really attached to any of the teams left and when that's the case I usually root for the underdog. But I wouldn't be disappointed at all to see a Germany vs. Brazil final.

Unfortunately, both these games are on at 4:30 in the morning my time. I can't decide whether to try to stay up, set my alarm or record the South Korea/Germany match. Guess I'll just see how it goes.

Too bad for them that only European referees are going to be used from now on.

Yep, was just a mediocre game - in my opinion.

    Brazil vs. Turkey

    Should be a good match.

Acouple missed chances for Brazil so far. I'm sure that they'll capitalize on at least a couple today.

I pick Brazil to win 2-0.

    Well, Brazil won 1-0.

So it's Brazil vs. Germany in the final.

    What are your predictions?

I'm picking Germany to win 2-1.

Not a bad match, and I'm tipping Brazil again tomorrow - same score as tonight.

Yeah, that's what I think. And I think the game's going to be an anticlimax, like most finals.

deltron -- yeah, the game for 3rd place is on 8:30pm Saturday night and the final is 8:30pm Sunday night. (That's Japan time, so you'll have to convert it).

Brazil did well without Ronaldinho and I think they'll be very hard to beat on Sunday. It depends on if the Germans can shut their attack down the way they did with many other countries. Brazil is such an attacking team that if they have to rely on defending, I don't think it'll work out good for them.

yep, i looked it up, both games are on at 4:30 am my time :(

since i work weekends, my only hope is to tape the final and hope nobody tells me what happened.

i agree that brazil has to be the favorite, germany has been good but brazil has just been totally awesome in all the matches i've seen. should be a very good game though, anything could happen.

.. and in other football news David O'Leary is no longer Leeds Manager.

After four successful years the pressures of some of the off-field incidents have resulted in the Company deciding that it would be beneficial for a change of manager.

well, it was a pretty entertaining match. germany had some chances but brazil really dominated the second half. even at the very end when germany was desparate brazil was still on the attack.
