Yeah, yeah, it's not ride in-it-of-itself, but it's part of a ride (just like how the initial tour in Jurassic Park -the Hammond clone intro, Mr. DNA, etc- is "sort of a ride"). Just a tad boring; not the most exciting part of the tour.

Here's that section put to better use:

Anything that has a completely repetitive motion: teacups, scrambler, the ships that swing back and forth, etc. [face_sick]

But give me a good steel coaster and I can go all day! I agree that most wooden coasters and more pain than fun, but I'll still go on them.

The only drop ride I'll go on is Tower of Terror because you can't see how high you are except for that split second at the top. I have ridden one outside at Kennywood (which has one of my all time favorite coasters!) in PA and the sitting at the top waiting for the drop about did me in.

I came in here to mention the zipper. If that thing doesn't make you blow chunks, nothing will. :p

I did manage to get through it without barfing, but it was probably the closest I've ever come to it on any ride. For me, it was the unpredictable motions of the car that put my stomach in my throat. [face_sick]

Wooden coasters don't bother me either, but I definitely prefer steel ones.

Worst one for me is the one that sent my left hearing aid flying off, never to be found, as we took the first drop. I was about ten at the time, and myself, my dad, and my brothers were riding this roller coaster at a cowboy themed casino just outside Las Vegas.

"DAAAAAAAD, MY HEARING AID IS GOOOOOOONE!!!!"

    "DAMMMMIIIIITTTTT!!!"

Mean Streak at Cedar Point has nothing on Mantis- a stand up coaster that will simultaneously cramp all your appendages, bruise your shoulders and play ping pong with your entire head.

The worst ride in design I've been on is the newer indoor Batman ride at Six Flags Great America- so boring the cool videos and atmosphere in the queue were better by far than the ride itself.

The worst ride I got stuck on was Superman at Six Flags Great America. You are locked in a chair that swings 90degrees so you are horizontal- all your weight is literally supported by your chest. So we got stuck about 20 minutes in the summer, I felt like my boobs were flattened into pancakes. Plus you are at such a weird angle there isn't really a good position for your head, with you straining to hold it up or it hangs down.

So bad it was good: this one tiny amusement park in Wisconsin Dells had a wooden coaster. So you had to hike up this hill just to get to it and I see a sign for the back seats- "Must be at least 18 years old" Being a bad*** at only 17 I had to ride it. Well, turns out that if you are tall enough for the ride but not big enough(an adult) for those last seats you would literally fly out of the seat during the ride. Rode it like five more times.:)

I love rollercoasters, absolutely love them. There is not a ride I won't try. I agree about wooden rollercoasters being uncomfortable though, they just hurt. The corkscrew at Alton Towers was awful, and there is one at Dreamworld on Australia's Gold Coast that sucks too.

The two worst experiences I've had are Rita at Alton Towers and the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland Paris.

Rita - the shoulder straps are just unbelievably uncomfortable, leaving marks on my shoulders and cutting in while going around the corners at speed.

Indiana Jones - I'm 6'4" / 6'5", tall but not a giant. With the shoulder barrier down my back was bent into a C shape and the ride just HURT because of it.

Ah yes, the Mantis! On top of ping-ponging your head, it gives your crotch a beating.

You stand up and rest on what's basically an armrest wedged high between your legs, so your crotch can come down hard on that armrest throughout the ride. Hell, it's uncomfortable before you even take off, I don't think your body weight was meant to rest on your crotch.

In case I'm not describing it well to people who don't know, seen here if you look closely:

That's right I'm asking you to look closely at their crotch area! Top that, DantheJedi. Or not.

Still, I kinda liked it when it came out for its novelty and decent stats.

Awww, Mantis kind of grew on me during my last year or two in Ohio. But apparently this is the last year it's going to exist as is...there have been rumors about seeing a big change to one of the coasters or something (I can't remember exactly what's been said and now I'm having a hard time tracking anything down).

I personally loved Raptor at Cedar Point. And I was quite upset when the Raptor cup I took home broke. :(

I rode in a wooden roller coaster in the rain and man it hurt. The rain was big and really painful on the way down.
Rode another wooden roller coaster at kings dominion with my little cousin at the time. The second hill would throw you up and you better hold on. Needless to say it scared my little cousin and she was hiding under the bar in the front. Not on the seat at all. I look down see her and got the scare of my life. Pulled her up and rode the rest of the ride. That was incredibly scary ride.

i rode in a woollen roller coaster once it was basically a huge sweater. man did it hurt. the runs were big and painful on the way down. on the second hill i threw up and lung butter held on to my companion's face. needles entered my little cousin. i took her to the bar in the front of the park and got her seat good and drunk. i looked down and saw the scar of my wife. pulled her up and rode her roughshod. incredibly scarry.

I have seen one of these up close. It is every bit as tasteless as it appears to be. The entrance to the stairs also has a sign reading "First Class Passengers Only".

I'm waiting for someone to come up with an Auschwitz themed ride with "Arbeit Macht FUN!!" in glowing neon letters atop the ride. You just know it is coming.
