The decision to sell Star Wars and Lucasfilm to Disney. I have great respect and admiration for George, but that was his one big mistake when it came to the franchise he created.

Or maybe Tarkin wasn't really trying to win, since he knew he was the villain of the movie. This happens a lot.

That whole fight really (the twirl-off, etc) was badly choreographed. You're right though. Anakin jumped right into a buzz-saw. It was similar to how he dutifully put his arm out to be hacked off by Dooku. It could have been a very skillful fight by both of them where Anakin appears slightly more powerful and is keeping Obi-Wan on the defensive. ...but then Anakin makes one violent kill stroke and Obi-Wan barely dodges and severs Anakin's arm forcing him to fall into the lava (to keep with the legend). His legs should have just been burned off rather than have Obi-Wan slice off three limbs in one flourish. To add drama, Obi-Wan could have even tried desperately to grab Anakin to save him from falling in but just miss the grip.

I also don't like what this continues to suggest about Obi-Wan's martial competence. He beat Maul only because Maul gloated (and Maul even survived as it turns out). Dooku outright thrashed Obi-Wan twice. Obi-Wan defeated Anakin only because Anakin did something inexplicably stupid. I really think Obi-Wan was meant to be among the elite Jedi swordsman, maybe just one rung down from Mace/Anakin/Dooku, but he gets thrown around by everyone. It would be different if Obi-Wan was meant to be a sort of lucky everyman character, but he's not. Anakin regards him as extremely powerful, Kit Fisto said he wished 'Kenobi was here' when they went to face Palpatine. Obi-Wan himself even shows plenty of regard for his own abilities with the "sith lords are our specialty" comment and dropping right into an enemy base to face noted jedi-killer General Grevious by himself.

Boss Nass promoting Jar Jar to general.

Where did this come from? Jar Jar is never shown to have any skill in strategy or battle tactics and I can't remember him doing anything to earn any form of position.

OK not really story related but more movie making related:
    • Not putting a trained fencer in the Darth Vader suit in ANH.
    • Making Leia Luke's sister in ROTJ (which ruined a scene in ESB)
    • Replacing Wookies with Ewoks in ROTJ (bad move)
    • Most of the Special Edition changes in ANH and ROTJ - worst offense being Jedi Rocks in ROTJ
    • Overuse of bad CGI in the Special Editions
    • Not having another director come in for the prequels. Particularly one with some freedom to change some cheesy lines/scenes (see most Anakin/Padme scenes).
    • Casting Jake Lloyd as Anakin
    • Making TPM a kiddie movie and not targeting the adult fans who grew up with SW (see: Jar Jar, etc...)
    • Killing off Darth Maul - Should have had Obi Wan escape in Ep 1. Make Dooku a political leader (like Tarkin) with Maul as the Sith henchman in Ep 2 and 3 (Anakin kills Maul early in 3).
    • Overuse of bad CGI in AOTC
    • Did I mention having a director to fix cheesy dialogue in the prequels?
    • Show Vader (pre suit) taking out jedi in the temple. Have the clone troopers kill the younglings (Vader killing them goes a bit too far for his redemption in ROTJ).
    • Give TFA a more unique story. Instead of Starkiller Base have a chemical or biological weapon.
    • Finn should never touch a lightsaber in TFA.
    • Give Luke a larger role in the 2nd half of TFA along with a reunion with Han and Leia. Kylo defeats Finn and Rey handily and the lightsaber flies into Luke's hands instead of Rey's. Luke vs Kylo at the end.
    • Have an opening crawl and John Williams' music in RO
    • Limit the use of CGI Tarkin. Have Krennic cover most of Tarkin's scenes.

Every droid and stormtrooper attempt to arrest people mid blaster fight ever.

Just paint laser lights on the inside of their brainpans and let the medics sort out the mess later. Gah!

Tarkin should have let Krennic destroy the entire moon of Jedha like he wanted to.

All of Rogue One dies, the plans never get stolen, Luke never hits the bullseye left by Galen Erso and the Empire reigns supreme forever.

Not a "bad decision" but bad circumstances. Yavin IV (the moon) happened to be on the other side of the planet from the DS. The superlaser takes a while to recharge, I read somewhere as long as a whole day if the target is a planet. So blowing up Yavin first would have given the Rebels much more time to attack, too risky for the Empire. Orbiting a planet in hyperspace is not possible, so going at "normal speed" (how ever fast that is for the DS) was the only option. Though it is not directly said in the movie, we can assume that the DS has a much lower sub-light speed than an X Wing for example. For that matter, we don't even know for sure whether it's possible for the superlaser to destroy a gas giant. Maybe there is a limit as to what size planets can be destroyed?

Yes, Lucas elected to place Yavin between the Death Star and Yavin IV for dramatic purposes. It maps the Royal Air Force's being alerted by coastal radar stations to the approach of the Luftwaffe and being given time to scramble. Lucas could have elected to have the Death Star bypass the threshold orbital radius for needing to drop out of hyperspace due to Yavin's gravity well, and instead drop out at a lower gravitational potential at a point of maximum elongation (90 degree angle) either east or west of Yavin. No silly dramatic orbiting, or preparing to orbit, then. Maybe one can retcon that navigation through hyperspace requires precise alignment with a great mass and that the point of departure becomes unstable to achieve if the heading deviates from precise alignment with the known mass, in a way analogous to the way that the light of stars at a great angle away from the path of travel will begin to disappear as one approaches the speed of light, so that the Death Star's heading straight for Yavin, so as to get to Yavin's much smaller moon, is the way that use of hyperspace is successful. Lucas had the Falcon go through the same visuals. Just a retcon.

    Edit:
Oh I see. The assertion was that the Death Star should be able to destroy two planets in quick succession, in the way that Enola Gay carried TWO Little Boy uranium weapons of mass destruction. Boy was Yavin IV fortunate that it did not dawn on Tarkin to destroy Yavin.

Can't fault Lando here since Vader only does aggressive negotiations.

Would also add Grievous not just ordering his droids to blast Obi-Wan to bits when he jumps into the middle of them.

Or when Grievous puts the confiscated lightsabers in his pocket unrestrained even though he knows jedi can pull it away with their minds.

Or the fact that he listens to Sidious and sends the Seperatist leaders all to one location where they can be easily slaughtered at the same time.

In fact everything Grievous does... how is this guy a general??
