ST Worst line in The Force Awakens

Now that the movie has been out for a while, and people have had the chance to see it more than once, I'm curious as to what people consider to be the worst line in the movie? Either the way it was written, or delivered, or it just took you out of the film.

My pick:

"I'm okay!" -Finn

After he falls into the Falcon's hidden compartment. The line, likely done in ADR, is just such an awful cliche in film that has always gotten to me. Watch any comedy, and more often than not when somebody falls off screen you'll hear an "I'm okay!" - as though either the filmmaker wants to assure us they are not hurt, or because it's actually seen as a funny punchline to falling down. Finn's "Droid, please!" is a weird one, because it's a terrible line but John's delivery makes it work. I mean, they basically just slipped a "*****, please!" into Star Wars.

Uhhh...No.

"*****, please." is what you say to someone that you think is being ridiculous or dishonest.

Finn was actually pleading with the droid.

The "Do you have a boyfriend" line or something like that.

Was just totally out of place for SW.

 

Not really. It's better to make the characters talk like real people instead of what they sound like in the PT.


I'd say "Thats a story for another time" is the worst line

 

Honestly?

I found that a bit too trusting on Poe's part, though I know it was necessary for the plot.

 

In itself, or because you wanted to know how she got it?

 

"I bet you didn't recognize me with this arm." Talk about trying too hard.

 

In itself, because it shows JJ's laziness. Instead of writing an actual reason for why Maz has the lightsaber, NAH SHE JUST HAS IT BECAUSE THE SCRIPT SAYS SO.

 

It fits perfectly with C-3PO's annoying character. He often isn't aware of when to shut up or stop talking.

 

Worst line by FAR: "It was SNOKE who seduced our son to the darkside." Was so out of place, unnecessary, try-hard, cringey, poorly delivered.

 

How do you know he doesn't have an actual reason? Maybe he thinks the story fits elsewhere. Did we really want to stop the movie so we could hear a story about Maz?

 

it might be explained in E8 or E9 (gotta save some material for the sequels), or it's going to be left to EU.

 

This, but also every other thing Leia said.

 

I can't honestly think of any bad lines from the movie. It was that good.

 

I agree with the Threepio line. "I bet you didn't recognize me with this arm". Who is not going to recognize him because his arm is red. Why is it red, anyway?

 

"Who talks first?" -Poe

 

If those are the worst lines, then we got something special.


"Are you an angel?"
"Then love has blinded you?"
"I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth."
"Nooooo!" - Vader
*Everything Jar Jar says*
"Now this is Podracing!"
"From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!"
etc. etc. etc.

 

Oh man there's so many. Where to begin.

Does someone know the exact quote when they show the SK base against a DS?

"So it's like a DS only bigger?" or something like that

Or the whole exchange between Han and Byo.

 

I liked that line.....so 3PO

 

I thought the exchange between Finn and Poe at the beginning was a little awkward.

Poe: Why are you doing this?
Finn: Because it's the right thing to do.
Poe: ...You need a pilot.
Finn: I need a pilot.

Finn just had no reason not to be upfront about his desire to get off the ship, and then these two just became buds like immediately afterward.

 

This. I did not get the ****, please vibe from that line at all. I just got that it was cute he was calling bb-8 "droid" like it was his name. If they intended the line in a "*****, please" kind of way, I think Boyega's delivery saved it. It would be the same if he had said, "bb-8, please."

Worst line for me was Maz's, "that's a story for another time." Super lame.

 

For me, it was the interaction just as (I guess) Finn was about to tell Rey the truth. A pipe bursts and she says something like 'help me with this'. I can't even remember Finn's response. It looked so wooden

This, and it was like an advertisement for future canon material, whether that history is revealed in another movie, book, or comic.

 

Yeah the word boyfriend was said twice in the movie and I cringed both times.
