I was reading the best moment in AOTC thread today and I wondered to myself 'What is the worst moment in AOTC?'

I really can't think of one. I suspect, however, than padme and Anakin'd scene in the meadow where Anakin pretends to get hurt will get low ratings. That may have been my least favorite moment.

I find that the opening scene with the ship exploding gets old after you watch the film a few times, but it's a necessary scene/moment.

When Obi-Wan kept saying "My young padawan" or "MY very young apprentice"

    It got annoying

You're not helping your case there, Anakin ;)

The strobe lighting of the Anakin vs. Dooku duel would I guess be it, though I liked the entire movie.

In general, I didn't mind it.
But, I do feel like the schtick should've occured earlier on and been condensced into one scene.
The fact that it occures at the climax of the great Jedi battle and keeps reoccuring to the point where it bookends the drama, makes it a bit grinding.
However, it's not the first time 3PO pops up to lighten up a mood.
Remember how he babbled on while Han was being frozen?

All of Naboo put me to sleep. Count Dooku's talk with Obi Wan. Anakin and Padme in the droid factory.

The whole romance was really akward, I think GL should have let someone else step in and take care of that part, or at least worked with someone who knew how to do good romance.

Yep. IMO the dialogue in the fireplace scene was the worst part of AOTC.

When those damn rocket thingies first come out of R2D2's legs. I remember burying my face in my hands for several pained seconds. Why--oh why?--would he never use such handy devices in the OT if he still had them?

"Good call, my young apprentice" or something like that.

Good call? This supposed to be a galaxy far far away. GL, 2003 called, they want their slang back.

ahh you read my thread in the interactive AOTC Forum?

    good for you dude.

i also did the exact same thread as this in that forum :p

as I said there, the worst moment in AOTC was when Jango shot that Jedi before twirling his gun.

he's a Jedi! block, jump, use the force or something!

I can't believe that anyone can even put the romance scenes on the same cringeworthy level as the C3PO humor scenes. Absolutely, positively, undeniably horrific. Listening to his terribly NOT FUNNY one liners makes me want to buy a life size cutout of threepeio, beat the living crap out of it, and feed it to some racoons or possums or something. I can't describe how embaressed I am every time I see those scenes.

The Padme/Anakin scenes make me think back to my first attempts at uhm, having intercourse and realizing how idiotic I must have sounded. It's kind of humerous.

    The worst moment in AOTC?

That's easy. It's the fireplace scene. The lighting was beautiful. The set was incredible. The costumes looked wonderful, but the damn dialogue was absolutely atrocious!!! It is the worst moment in the entire SAGA for me and the only scene in the entire SAGA that I fast-forward through. Other than that I really like the movie. It's my least favorite of the six, but a good movie none the less.

I personally feel pretty lucky that I'm one of the few who likes the romance stuff in AOTC. Do I think Lucas and his co-writer did a good job writing the dialogue? Hm, not necessarily. It wasn't the strongest writing. But it was innocent. It did play on the fact that these two people knew very little about what they were getting themselves into, and I kind of thought that was pretty interesting. I'm not really defending it per se; as I said it's not great writing at all, but in many ways I think it's better than simply having your same run-of-the-mill love story. I thought the writing did compliment who the characters are, and the innocence of it all in AOTC makes things more tragic in ROTS, IMO.

And yes, the 3P0 lines were pretty terrible. I cannot, absolutely cannot watch AOTC with other people and not feel uncomfortable when he says "Oh now where are you taking me? Oh, this is such a drag" or "It's a nightmare, aahhh!!! I want to go home!" etc. Now, those lines are definitely in-character for 3P0. I just wish we didn't have to hear them. I've been accused of being a blind gusher fanboy in the past; perhaps what I've said here will lighten that up a bit. AOTC is still one of my favorite movies of all time, but like every movie, it has problems. I just don't feel it has too many problems, and the good more than makes up for the bad.

"Don't worry, we have R2 with us."

"I hate it when he does that."
I can't believe this line made it into a Star Wars film.

    "Good call, my young Pad-A-wan."
