Unlike other genres of music, film music albums are almost always blessed with lovely cover art. Most covers feature the original poster art of the film. But every now and then, a terrible cover will surface from the depths of Photoshop Hell. This is where we give these covers the wagging finger of shame.

I saw this cover at Best Buy yesterday and I almost threw up:

    Awesome score, terrible cover art.

Yeah. Luckily, the crappy cover art made me realize that I shouldn't buy this one, so I bought the 25th Anniversary one.

I don't know why they even bothered to release that at the same time the superior 25th anniversary CD came out.

Did they know they were going to release the original recordings?

Ugly, ugly, really ugly. In that order.

In fact, the design of the entire Sinbad album is atrocious.

I've heard good things about Joel McNeely's Jaws.

How about this newer one? It's just... weird. Too much going on that says pretty much nothing.

Great digital recording, vibrant performance, counterpoint clear than ever. I found this particularly interesting: an Amazon.com review states, "It is interesting to note that Williams altered his original score during the recording sessions because of the limitations of 1975 recording technology. Luckily, McNeely conducts the score as it was originally written. The RSNO performs admirably without any noticeable errors and the tempos are just about perfect."
