I'm going to do the same...although, I did download it...to be honest, it was good but not that great..and of course, Eva pretty much stole every scene she was in and Josh Brolin was pretty good too.

As for 300, Eva once again was the only good thing about it. I actually wish the movie could have been more about her through her point of view...

Rodriguez is very good at getting people to show up for his films. Some out of friendship, others because of his quick shooting style. I mean, he got Mel Gibson to not only appear in Machette Kills, but to casually drive around in a landspeeder replica and do a cheesy Darth Vader mask-and-lightsaber scene. People seem to have fun working with him.

I had heard he's good at getting his shots, so he only needs the actors for a fraction of what they're usually used to - so he doesn't need to spend as much cash getting them. Though that's just a rumour I've heard.

Well, he basically found success in fast, low budget, do-it-yourself techniques with El Mariachi, Desperado , From Dusk til Dawn & Spy Kids.

(Though being pals with Tarintino probably didn't hurt either ;))

The 5 Minute Film School pieces he included as DVD extras on some of his films were always very interesting because of that.

Saw it last night. (Crossposted from the Movies thread). Visually, as nice as the first Sin City movie. Plot was weak though, and the subplot between Nancy (Alba) and "I see dead people" Hartigan (Willis) seemed tacked on and superfluous. The best thing about it was Mickey Rourke's makeup and prosthetics as Marv actually making him look better than his cosmetic surgery ravaged face. The other highlight was Christopher Meloni playing the anti-Elliot-Stabler style detective. So an OK movie to catch for some popcorn eating background noise, nice visually, but the rest is a mess.
