SWRPF Archive WOTG III: The Breaking of the Alliance

Imperial Center

The three Coruscant guards and the stormtroopers let loose a barrage of blaster bolts at the Vong but saw the Vong use an invisible power to deflect them and to something else, then he lept into the large hole. The troopers followed and began firing there weapons downward out of the hole but they eventually stopped, non dared to follow the Vong, they had armor on but it was still a long way down. They looked down at a chared corpse that was once a Coruscant Guard then they left down the stairs looking for the Vong.

"I'm sorry but that information is classified. Only officers and personnel with a Red Level clearance can access that information." Lt. Commander Sage replied. "Do you have anything else important you would like to inform us, Dr. Bond?"

Nithrak opened a villip to Yomin Carr

"Commander, I need to make a quick journey to Nal-Hutta before we begin our plans. Would you care to join me?"

"Certainly, Warmaster." Was Carr's reply.

Later, as the Ihndy and her escorts skirted the maw near kessel, Nithrak and Carr were interrupted from their planning session by the villip master.

"Sir, our MSPS escort has detected a gravity field that is not located on the charts of the infidels. Size suggests a planetoid."

"Tell the captain to bring us out of darkspace."

Nithrak and Yomin went to the bridge and saw the brown, dead looking planet swirling beneath them.

"Life forms?" asked Yomin Carr.

An acolyte nodded an affirmative and reported: "Yes sir, and grouped together in various locations."

Nithrak and Yomin shared a look of consideration, and Nithrak turned to the villipmaster. "Prepare a dropship, a squad of troops, and a coralskipper escort."

"Would you care to accompany me to the surface?" asked Nithrak.

 

"Of course warmaster." Yomin motioned to his Anzat body guards. They glided forward, into the landing craft, followed by Yomin and the warmaster.
"Impressive assasins, Carr."

"The best. I don't think anything can beat them at pure stealth." The warmaster smiled and turned to the pilot.

"There, near that village. Put us down there subaltern." The pilot nodded, and the craft slowed and stopped, gently setting itself on the ground.

"Desolate place, warmaster," commented Carr. It was true, all of the land in any direction was brown, with a small green "river" running across the land.

The warriors took up defensive positions around the warmaster and Carr. They glanced around furitively, looking for some sign of life. Nothing could be heard but the wind gently blowing.
All at once, the warmaster and Carr, sensing something behind them, whirled around in time to see a shadow melt into darkness. The Anzat let out a low hiss. Carr and the warmaster, led by the Anzat walked towards the shadows departing point. Nothing. Suddenly from behind them came a low gravelly voice.
"Who are you?"

 

Startled by the stealthy approach of the creature, the Anzat reflexively attacked. In the blink of an eye, two of the Anzat were down, a third clutching its severed tentacles.

"Cease!" cried Nithrak. "Call them off, Commander."

The Anzat pulled back on Carr's commans and Nithrak stepped forward.

"I am Nithrak domain Tewl, Warmaster of the Yuuzhan Vong." Nithrak gestured to Carr "This is Yomin domain Carr, one of my commanders."

Nithrak peered into the dark eyes of the short, grey skinned creature.

"I am Thaskiboth Clan Khimbar. You are intruders on our planet and will be placed in confinement."

"I think not" said Nithrak, Tsaisi in hand. "You will take me to the ruler of your world. Obedience now might forgive your insolence."

A warning from Yomin Carr forced Nithrak expand his circle of awareness. It was then that he noticed another dozen sets of dark eyes watching him.

Based on the apparent martial skills of these creatures, Nithrak decided a change of tactics was in order.

"My apologies Thaskiboth, for our unannounced arrival. Our communication technology is apparently not compatible with yours, as we tried repeatedly to broadcast a welcome."

A half truth, but then again, Nithrak doubted it would become an issue.

"I have come on behalf of the Yuuzhan Vong to extend the hand of peace and brotherhood, and bridge the gap between our peoples."

The creature seemed to consider this, and then conferred with another of his kind.

"What are you doing?" asked Yomin Carr, obviously unsettled at Nithrak's deference to the creatures.

"Saving our necks, we won't make it back to the transport in one piece, and I'd like to accomplish that. Besides, these creatures could prove useful once shaped."

Yomin grunted an approval and stepped away as Thaskiboth addressed them again.

"The Matraikh will decide how best to deal with you. Follow me."

Swallowing their pride, Nithrak and Yomin obeyed.

 

High Inquisitor Halycron: *Eriadu System*

The High Inquisitor stood, stone-rigid, at a view port on Vengeance. His mind had been a raging space battle, Super Star Destroyers on both sides.
I knew it was true. I wasn?t Imperial at heart, but I?d tried. I?d tried awfully hard.
If I serve the Empire, the WHOLE galaxy needs my watchful eye.
But, if I serve only a handful of planets and their people, they can benefit from my leadership.
Time to talk to President Yarlik?if I can get a hold of the man. I doubt very much, that he?ll want to talk to me. This is the way...I?ll need a way to vanish from Imperial service; to be unknown, and to get Sarran and Requiem Squadron with us as well. He said the ships were entirely loyal to him, so that is possible.

He spun on his heel, and walked back to the hypercomm, ?Imperial Forces?this is High Inquisitor Halycron. Hyperdrive has failed, and my ship is locked into the gravitational orbit of a gas-giant...GAH!!!!!!!!!!?
He was sure to add desperation and despair into his voice at important variables, and to send a faked-up ship log off the disaster, and sent it along the correct lines, switching the Vengeance?s IFF transponder to that of Tranquility. Lucky for him, that IFF was unknown to the galaxy.
He sent a course for the Alliance sovereign planet of Eriadu, their capital, and hit the sublights. The Alliance forces should be seeing his approach on their scanners soon, and the titanic Olympus Station was just coming into view.
?This is Captain Jek Tarner, hailing Alliance station Olympus, permission to land a speak with President Yarlik??

While waiting for an answer, Jace beamed a hypercomm message to Sarran, indicating for him to ready all those ships and crews loyal to him, and to prepare them for transit.


Commander Sarran: *Requiem?s Bridge*

Sarran narrowed his glowing red eyes as he read the message. Halycron...thank you. He thought. Imperial service is also not what I believe in. But what of my soldiers?they are loyal to myself.
He turned to the captain of Atlantis, ?Ready the fleet for transit, we are defecting.?
His blue eyes flashed, ?Like hell we are!?
?Captain, your ships are under the combined guns of my loyal 15 ships. Four dreadnaughts, 5 VicStars, 2 ImpStars, and 4 DSDs. Stand down. You will not be harmed if you surrender, and you?ll be allowed to retain Tempest Base and your ships, save the tempest defense weapons, which are being loaded into my ships.?
Atlantis?s captain?s eyes burned with hatred and betrayal, ?Never!?
?Captain D?Tana, send Protocol ?Distill? to those ships. They can sit in space until a Imperial escort picks them up...wait, slave them to the Atlantis, and send them to...Borleias...the Imperials will know what to do.?

If someone feels the need to yell at me for this, read my reason in Jace's PoV post. Its right there. I am not betraying anyone, just shifting my resonsibilites to neutral affiliation.

 

Olympus

Comm officers were buzzing, fearing an attack was about to occur until they heard the transmission "Permission to land granted, we'll need to speak with the President before your other request is granted or denied. Hold your position." the comm officer said sternly. The thinly veiled threat he hoped had not been lost on them.

Yarlik's quarters

Jarv Yarlik had spent much of his life in one conflict or another, it was quiet times like these he treasured. And just then when he'd found his center the comm called his attention away "Yes? What is it?" he asked in a polite tone, annoyance nowhere in his voice. There was a slight pause on the other end "Ah..Mr.President, we have a request from someone asking for a meeting." came the reply. Another meeting? Yarlik thought "Okay, tell them to meet me in my private docking bay, docking bay 1. As to the first person, tell them that I'll bee meeting with them shortly." Yarlik spoke, almost astonished that two people wished to speak with him, but not suprised. He stood and began to dress himself in a black robe with shimmersilk lining the arms and torso.

"Warmaster, don't you think you're acting a bit rash? Trusting our fate to these creatures."

"Now, Carr, they don't seem that bad, and we really don't have a choice. I think you're just angry because of your Anzats' failure."

The two were led into a village.

"Failure? I think not. I brought inexperienced crechelings because I never anticipated that the Anzat could be beaten."

"Whatever you say, Commander."

Thaskiboth Clan Khimbar turned as they approached a large wooden building.

"You will meet the Matriach and the clan dynasts in here."

The three walked inside along with the Anzat assasins. The creatures placed a form of cuffs on the Anzati while Carr and Tewl sat in two chairs in front of an assemblage of the creatures sitting at a table. Behind them sat hundreds of the creatures. Thaskiboth Clan Khimbar walked forward.

"Matriach and dynasts, these two offworlders are Nithrak Clan Tewl and Yomin Clan Carr of the Yuuzhan Vong, a race unknown to our people."

The matriach leaned forward.

"Do either of you know of the Lord Vader or his Empire??"

The warmaster leaned forward.

"We do know of both this person and of the Empire."

"Then do you know why the Lord Vader has not contacted us in some time."

"I would guess it is because he is dead."

A collective gasp filled the room, and murmuring overwhelmed the Matriach's words. The dynasts called for order, and the chamber was silenced again. The matriach turned to the warmaster, visibly shaken.

"How can you support the validity of your claims? If so, how did he die?"

"I have nothing to support my claims but my word. The Lord Vader, died of grief. Grief over the Empire's killing of his heir."

More murmuring.

"We will return in one half of an Imperial hour to inform you of our choice. Do you have any other statements to make?"

"Yes, for your information alone, our biotechnology can effectively clean the barren waste of the rest of your world."

"We will take this under consideration, Nithrak Clan Tewl. Now you and your brethern will be give privacy and we will reconvene in .5 Imperial Hours."
Everyone filed out of the chamber, except for the Anzat, Tewl and Carr. Tewl turned to Carr.

"Did I sound convincing enough?"
Carr smiled.
"To me you did, but I really should ask the real experts. You know... the failures." The Anzat hissed as they stood up in the warmaster's direction. Nithrak turned to the Anzat.
"My mistake, what did you think?"

"Approximately 85% of the clan is in favor of you outright. Approximately 50% of those in outright favor are only so because of your promise to clean the world. Almost all are in favor of you to a lesser degree because of the death of Vader and the Empire's betrayal of Vader's heir. Our "mind" reading skills are accurate 95% of the time. You should be allowed passage."

"Excellent. Carr, contact our ships and tell them to wait in orbit. Then contact Dathomir, and tell them to move the fleets into position. And finally contact Carr Shaper Compound. Tell your shapers we'll have another species for their enjoyment soon."

"Yessir."

 

Halycron: *Landing at Olympus*

Jace set the Tranquility down gently. He was told that his meeting would be held second, after the President's first meeting was finished.
He went and sat at the bottom of the ramp, holding his face in his hands.
I hope I am making the right choice...
Of course I am!

 

Docking bay 1

Yarlik strolled into the bay, it wasn't much, but it was bigger than most facilities on Olympus "Greetings Inquisitor." he said in a definetly polite tone, but with a hint of suspicion "Is there anything you needed? Come now, we'll talk in a more appropriate setting." he waved Jace over to follow him.

 

Baron Halycron: *Docking Bay 1, and on*

Jace stood, and trailed the Alliance President. "Yes, there is something I wish to discuss...and by the way, upon my actions, my Imperial title is lost to me. Call me "Baron", if you will."

 

Nodding to his guest "As you wish. Imperial doctrine bore you?" he smiled a bit, and then they walked out of the docking bay to a meeting room with an elongated table in the center and holographic paintings lining the walls. Yarlik motioned his guest to sit at the chair to his right side. He smiled still "So what brings you to my humble station, Baron? Surely the Emperor is not giving his men time-off with the war still raging." he said, measuring up his guest, if he had any tricks up his sleeve, they weren't visible.

Baron Halycron: *Yarlik's Meeting room*

Jace stepped into the room, "No, Mr. President. There will be no double-cross from myself. You have my word. I have come to you, wishing to get away from it all. In Imperial service, the whole galaxy's fate rested on my shoulders. While I could handle this, it is not my preference. I wish to lead a small pocket of worlds, say a peaceful distant system."
Jace stood tall, and waited for the President's reply.

 

IC: Bimmiel system
"Warlord, we're receiving a transmission from Eriadu." Captain Nokta said.

"Very well," Ken replied, swatting at the comm receiver.

Go ahead and post your explanation to my demotion.

 

IC: Imperial Palace
"No, nothing to report. Just that the scan reported that Mitth was in very good health."

TAG: Mitth

Void Base
"Lieutenant, send a message to Commodore Dravonia requesting assistance."

About 10 seconds later, the subordinate reported, "Done sir. They should arrive in about 4 minutes."

"Very well."

"Sir, the Peace Brigade is hailing us. What should we do?"

"Um..." Salrawn gritted his teeth. "Stall them for four minutes."

"But...how?"

"Dammit, Lieutenant, think of something!!" Salrawn hissed in frustration.

At that point, the five asteroids of Void Base catacysmically (sp?) exploded, sending bright red shards flying everywhere.

"Amazing..."

"No spacing, Lt. I want you to get me an update on our troop status. Major, cut away the casing for the wiring for the comm unit. Lt., hand me those goggles and the breath mask."

"Yes, sir."

Hastily disguising himself, Salrawn answered the comm unit. "This is Lt. Narol," allowing a hint of annoyance and contempt to seep into his voice. "We're having a problem with the comm unit." Here he fumbled around with the wires, causing a bit of static to punctuate his words. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Meanwhile, the Lt. silently put the numbers just so Salrawn could see it: 1,950 walkers and 6,800 marines remaining. Salrawn tried hard not to let them see him wince.

And, as you know, the First and Seventh Fleets (or whatever Aragorn is commanding) will arrive in four minutes.

 

Yarlik gave a quizzical look to Jace, this was most unexpected in his opinion "And you think I could provide you with one?" he asked, alittle calmer now and building up some trust to with this man. He held his hand up for a moment "It had been long suspected that High General Ken had been aiming toward a military coup and to take over the Alliance and hand over our territory to the Imperials. To this end I have promoted Admiral Terrik(bterrik) to Commander-in Chief." Yarlik said, the transmission still going on "Instead of locking him in a cell, he shall be demoted until such time when he is purged of these feelings." the President turned to Jace and smiled "You were saying?"

 

IC:
"What, that's outrageous! You have no proof! Why would you suspect that in the first place?"

Remember, that WK hasn't heard of the Olympus thing yet. But he will, through Rebel agents assigned by him to give him regular updates.

 

He heard the reply but instead switched off the comm. President Yarlik hadn't much time for an argument, he'd deal with the General soon, he hoped. Instead the President typed up something on his personal console and had it sent to Ken. Meet me on Olympus it said.

 

IC: Void Base

"Sir, the ships sent a transmission, and Void Base exploded!"

"What the... Alright, fire all weapons on those ships, I don't care if they're Peace Brigade or Rebel. Fire all turbolasers on them. And have all navcomputers on our ships and on Coral Base bring up the coordinates for Yuuzhan Vong space, they won't find us in there."

"Commencing firing..."

4 minutes later

"Sir, fleet coming out of hyperspace, initiating hyperspace jump."

"Commence jump."

As the Rebel fleet appeared, the PB fleet and Coral Base jumped into hyperspace, heading towards Yuuzhan Vong space.

 

"You bet I will!" Ken growled. "Nokta, set our course for Eriadu. And is the Warhawk ready yet."

"She sure is, sure. Fully crewed and with a full complement of starfighters and ground forces."

"Tell the captain to set the course for Eriadu, but on the edges of the system, so no one can detect it. Also try to do it quietly. I don't wanna take any chances, this could turn out to be a trap."

Moments later, the Antiga entered hyperspace.

OOC: I'll get to Eriadu in 3 RL days.

 

OOC: Ouch, thats a painfully long time, WK...

Baron Halycron: *Yarlik's Meeting Room*

"I was saying, is that I was hoping you could offer me a planetary system in exchange for, oh, say my two DSDs Growing Dread and Stellar Trap. They are already en route, but are a few days off."
Jace stood taller than he had been.

"I know that is an insanely low price for my request, but it is what I require."

 

Yarlik's Office

Captian Fairdream had been brought to an office and told to wait. The office had said Yarlik would be with her shortly.

I hope so he'll be here soon. I can't imagine why I let myself get talked into coming,Marissa thought. Being diplomatic was not her thing, she fought battles and corrected Veng, she didn't make alliences. Veng must have been desprate to sen me...

Commodore Dravonia gaped, staring at the space where the PB fleet had occupied but a second ago.

A Jedi knows calm...

"Sir, we're being hailed by the former PB ship Peace of ****."

"Commodore, this is Colonel Salrawn. Permission to board your ship?"

"Permission granted," Dravonia replied as 2 corvettes and 7 Martial-class shuttles prepared to dock with the Protector."

"Oh, and we also have quite a number of PB prisoners in our custody. I think they will prove quite...useful."
