A puzzled look came across his face, but then he did understand what veers meant.

"Very well veers. I am glad that you have cooperated. Is there any food or drink that you would like? more blankets? or perhaps a trip to the bacta tank?"

    The Bar

"Naw...i think your wrong. Your ties through your blood should come before any type of other loyalties. Without your blood, you are nothing."

"All of the above." Veers answered.

    Bar

"Under normal circumstances, perhaps. This is, after all, a time of war where one must prioritize his loyalties." The bartender argued. "But think from his viewpoint for a moment. Maybe he believes you have done something to betray him, to lose his loyalty? I did something unforgiveable with my own father once. We never spoke to each other after that and when I tried to ask for his help, he turned his back to me. I realized I hurt him. Unfortunately, I came to that realization too late. He died before I could ask for his forgiveness."/>

"Which order would you like to recive them in Maximillian?" chuckled the interrogator. He was being truthful, but he thought he sounded like a hotel worker for a moment.

    The Bar

Veers almost dropped his glass from his hands. What this bartender had told him was something quite true.

"You've said something thats made me realize that i am to blame. If i dont go back and talk to him, i may never get the chance to do so. Thank you soo much for making me realize my mistake."

Taking out more than enough credits to pay for his drink, Veers placed it on the table, ran out of the bar, and back to his beloved father.

"Bacta, then a five course meal fit for a king and I prefer cloths over blankets." Veers answered.

    Bar

"Your welcome!" The bartender shouted after the quickly departing young man. He gathered up the credits and used it as an excuse to walk into the back office. "Siger, you got the bar."

    "Right, boss."

The bartender entered his office, closed and locked the door and made sure any windows were blocked. He pulled back a picture frame and opened up a safe. He dumped the credits inside the safe and pulled out a medium sized black box.

He sat the box down on the desk and pulled out one of his keycards and opened it with a code. Inside was a hypercomm transceiver with encoder. He activated and sent the conversation he had to Corellia. He also made sure to add his comments that he believed the Field Marshal was indeed located on Bestine if Commander Zevulon Veers was the man's son./>

Jarrede awoke from his deep sleep to the sound of men moving quickly and preparing a fighter. Jarrede rubbed his eyes and stood up. Once he'd found Sam he walked over to him and stood by him, watching the men.

"Ah, morning sir. You'll be pleased to know that we've figured out a way to get you off planet," Sam informed, "Here, let's go brief you,"

Sam and Jarrede walked to a rock formation that had been flattened andwas serving as a table.

"We can't smuggle you off if you're still alive, the Imps will find out too quickly. So we're going to kill you," Sam said, smiling. Jarrede froze like a puddle, he thought Sam had gone crazy for a minute but if he had than Jarrede stood no chance. Sam started laughing and Jarrede untensed a bit.

"We're not going to physically kill you, we're gonna fake it," Sam corrected.

    "Oh, good," Jarrede replied, smiling.

"You're going to pilot that fighter to the carbohydrate fields on the other side of that town. We've fitted the bottom with more plating taken from the other fighters and lined the inside with as much coushin as we could find. Once above the fields you will crash your fighter at the edge of one. You have to move quick after that, we'll give you a set of tools so you can cut the fuel line, one of our mechanics will show where it is and how to do it without it looking like it's been sabotaged. Once the fuel line is cut set the carbohydrate fields around the fighter on fire, stay hidden and make sure the flames engulf the fighter, then you can double around and enter town a different way. Posing as a mechanic you will rendevous with one of our men and recieve the next part of Operation Extraction." Sam explained.

"How will that look like I'm dead?" Jarrede asked. Sam pointed to a body that lay near the fighter.

"While we were making our escape from the apartment a resistence member tried to make it to us. He was stunned as he was running towards us. The bolt sent his body crashing into a bulkhead in the Mynock," Sam told him, "Once you crash you can take his body out of the cargo compartment and position it in the pilot seat. For a nice touch you can push his head forward onto the displays so his wound is directly on the controls."

Jarrede nodded and Sam signalled to some men. They ran up and started taking off Jarrede's clothes. They dropped a jumpsuit that had been covered in grease next to him.

"Get changed quickly, we've got to move quickly," Sam ordered.

"We're ready to go sir," said the leader of three soldiers, each one dressed in an assortment of clothes that had been put together by men swapping shirts or boots with each other. They looked like your average refugee's.

"Good luck," Sam said, shaking each man's hand.

"Remember the drop point," Sam ordered as the men turned and began their journey down the mountain.

Jarrede stepped into Sam's view, showing him the jumpsuit on his body.

"Excellent, now let's get that mechanic to show you how to cut the fuel lines," Sam said, leading Jarrede away.

Jarrede lifted the HLAF off the ground and swung it around. Pushing the throttle forward the fighter cleared the mountains and Jarrede aimed it at the carbohydrate fields. The town was fast approching and Jarrede took in a deep breath.

"This has to look real," he told himself, "So don't double back just to crash"

The town was behind him now, he could see the edge of the carbohydrate fields. Pushing the throttle back to a medium speed, the edge was getting closer and closer by the second.

"Here's where Jarrede dies," Jarrede said as he saw the edge. He was at the estimated place where he should begin the crash, his hands were shaking but Jarrede steadied them. He had to do this.

"Here we go," he whispered. He pushed the stick down and the nose dropped. He quickly jerked back the stick, sending the nose rocketing up.

"Smeg!" Jarrede swore as he pushed the nose down again. The edge was too close now, he'd have to go steeper than he'd like. He pushed the stick down further and got into the appropriate angel of descent. The ground was coming up faster and faster. He pulled the stick up and bit and readied himself for impact.

The HLAF smacked into the ground full force, it's reinforced hull and coushined interior did more than Jarrede thought. To him they'd done nothing as they'd done nothing to stop his head wacking into the controls. The wound wasn't deep, he could fix it up in a moment's notice but the blood worried him.

"It'll add realism," he said, consoling himself. He went to work, opening the canopy he pulled the back of his seat down to reveal the cargo area. Gently he pulled the body that was wearing his clothes out of the cargo area. Once the body was free he put the seat back and placed the body into the seat. Jarrede wrapped the hands around the stick and put the head on the blodied displays.

"Good," Jarrede said, pleased with his work. He closed the canopy and and walked around the edge of the crater to where he could access the fuel lines. Jarrede found the spot where it was most likely to get cut open and pulled out his tools. Careful to not slice the whole fuel line in half Jarrede savegely cut the lines, making a horrible looking cut.

"Done," Jarrede said, sheathing his tools. Going over what he had to do he was pleased he'd done everything he needed to.

"First I'm owner of a shipyards, then an Imperial agent, a mechanic and now I'm an arsonest," Jarrede said to himself as he pulled out a lighter. He struck a flame and let it catch onto the carbohydrate closest to the fuel line. Just to make sure the job would be done he quickly set the body on fire and then made his way to a group of rocks near the edge of the fields.

Twenty minutes later Jarrede was pleased the flames had done their job and he began to double back around the fields and make his way into town.

The first phase of Operation Extraction was complete.

"Well then veers, if you will just come this way, we can get you off into the bacta tanks."

Motioning for veers to get up, the guards prepared to escort him to the medical wing.

Running as fast as he could, Zevulon veers jumped into his speeder. Turning the key, the repulsors kicked in, and the throttled the ship forward. Speeding off twards the garrison, he did not care what was in his way, he had to get back.

"I must get back to my father. I cannot let this go on anymore. It must be stopped."

Soon enough, he could see the garrison. Jumping out of his speeder, Zev headed inside. Hopefully, he would still find his father.

Veers looked at the interrogator with a look that pretty much said "You have to be kidding me? You expect me to walk after all that you have done to me? It'll be a miracle if I can even stand"

He sat on the floor, barely sitting up and he looked ready to fall over and sleep for who knows how long, from exhaustion.

    Corellia

Colonel Maybourne confirmed what the spy had learned on Bestine and sent the information to the Admiral of the Corellian Sector Fleet. Within hours the Sector Fleet departed from New Plympto for Bestine. They would be there in a couple days.

"Well then veers, allow my men to carry you to the bacta tanks."

4 guards slowly moved to pick up veers. Holding him by the underside of his arms, the brough him off the bet.

Meanwhile, running as fast as he could, Zevulon rushed to the door of his fathers cell. Inside he saw the burned and tattered man being picked up by the guards.

    "Father!"

Field Marshal Veers looked up at his son briefly before turning his gaze away and being dragged out of his cell for the garrison's infirmary. He did not want to talk to his son, not after the boy had abandoned him to his captives. He felt betrayed and abandoned, it hurt beyond words that could discribe what he felt.

    Enroute

Fleet Admiral Trey Hunters stood before the molted sky filled viewport of his command bridge with his hands clasped behind his back. He never grew tired of watching the cloudy sky of hyperspace dance around his ship. He found it amazing every time and soothing when he needed to think clearly.

Which he needed to do now. He did not know the numbers protecting Bestine and only knew that Field Marshal Veers was being held captive in a underwater prison beneath one of the garrisons. The field agent they had on the planetary surface had neglected in on reconning the defense fleet orbiting the planet. When asked about it, the agent only said that it would most likely be small.

It was a gamble Hunters had to take and thus why he was bringing his entire fleet with him. There goal was to take Bestine quickly if there was a small force protecting it, extract the Field Marshal and return him back to Corellia. Then call for more ships to come and secure Bestine. If they ran into an armada...

Well Hunters was ready to get involved in a large scale battle long enough to find the Field Marshal and get him out of there. Their objective was primarily the Field Marshal with Bestine as a secondary prize if he believed they could take it.

"Admiral." He heard the voice of his Captain, Selena Agwash, a female human who had quickly flew through the ranks immediately after she graduated from the former Academy on Carida. Trey Hunters frowned at the thought of losing the Academy and Carida to the Yuuzhan Vong. He clenched his clapsed hands into fists briefly as he listened to the footsteps of his Captain approach him from behind.

    "Sir?"

"What is it?" Hunters said at last.

"We will be dropping out of hyperspace in a couple hours." She replied.

"Drop us out early about a lightyear from the edge of the system. I want to do a long range scan of the area and the system for the composition of the rebel fleet." He commanded, still staring at the mottled sky of hyperspace.

"Yes, Admiral." Captain Agwash turned on her heel to give instructions to navigation and helm.

Zevulon could tell that his father was highly displease with him. If the roles were reversed, he would feel the same. How could he ever abandon his father in a time like this. He felt like as if he was the worst son in the entire universe. Why did he do it? Only because he had not the authority to do anything. But still that was no excuse. He knew that he had to make it up to his father. By any means possible.

Following the men into the medical ward, he saw the true horror of his fathers condition. Burnt skin and many lashes across his skin, Zev almost cried with the sight of how tortured his father truly was. Slowly the four guards lowered Maximillian into the tank. All zevulon could do for now was to stay by his father's side as he recooperated. Sitting in a chair in the room, tears spilled down Zev's face. He still could not belive he had let this continue.

"Sir, we are approaching our home world of Bestine."

"Very good, send word that we have arrived, and will be there shortly. Hopefully nothing dangerous has happened while "Teh Guvneah" was away."

The Armada and a half was almost home now. After a scare, it felt good to be heading home.

    AFS Space

The once and still loyal fleet to Warlord thok was now again leaderless. Since it was sold to another AFS member, that man showed no intrest and treated them not as they wish to be treated. Amungst talking to the rest of the fleet, they decided to fly back home to Nkllon, where they would try to get in touch with their one true leader, Warlord Thok. Jumping to hyperspace from an area around sullust, they would soon be back into their true leaders control.

    Bestine Surface

Maximilian Veers floated in his bacta tank, the greenish liquid swirled around him working its way into his injuries, healing them far faster then human flesh should heal. In a couple days he would be out of the tank and walking on his own again. At the moment he took the time in the tank to sleep off the torture.

But he soon realized he should have stayed awake. Nightmares of his pain haunted him as he slept and sometimes his dreams would show through in his physical form.

The Imperial fleet dropped out of hyperspace a lightyear outside of Bestine. Admiral Hunters stood in the security foyer near ComScan with Captain Agwash. "Long range scan." He commanded and the officer in charge of ComScan followed his instructions. Soon the results of the scan of the area and system would come in.

Throught the transparasteel and the bacta, Zev could see how much pain his father was feeling. But the man still didnt look at his own son. This drove Zev into a bigger state of self sadness. For it seems that the only member of his family alive was now disowning him. All he could do now was sit and wait...

"Sir, the results of the long range scan you requested." Captain Agwash said and handed her superior a datapad with the results. Admiral Hunters frowned at the information. Apparently the agent they had on Bestine had been wrong about the rebel strength in space. The rebels almost had twice the number of ships he had at his disposal.

If he got into a battle it would be a bloody one, all for one man. Perhaps he could avoid the battle and negotiate for the Field Marshals release.

"Open a channel to the rebel flagship." He said to communications as he walked over to the holocomm pod in the security foyer. He stepped into view of the holocams and waited until the rebel leader answered.

Standing professional with his hands clasped behind his back, he held an impassive expression as he spoke. "This is Fleet Admiral Trey Hunters aboard the ISD Pouncer of the Galactic Empire, you have something that belongs to us and we want it back."

Veers couldn't stand watching the nightmares anymore and woke up with a start in his bacta tank, jostling the liquid about enough to attract attention to himself. He breathed into the breather heavily as his eyes looked about to see where he was.

Trey Hunters calmly stared at the rebel commander. The man had to be delaying so they could move Veers somewhere else where the Empire would not be able to find them. "I want Veers and I want him now. You have thirty minutes to put him on a shuttle to the following coordinates. Failure to do so and I will take him by force if I must."

The coordinates sent was a location half way between the fleet's position and the edge of the system. If the rebels did not turn over Veers now, the Empire was ready to fight their way to him.

    IC as Field Marshal Veers

Maximilian Veers eyes fell on a blurred figure that quickly approached his tank. He could barely make out the features behind the glass walls of his bacta tank, but he could never forget the details of his son's face no matter how hard he tried too.

Zevulon spoke and Veers listened as best he could. He understood the gist of what Zevulon said but refused to give the boy forgiveness. Veers leaned forward and pressed both hands on the wall between them.

"Get me out of here." He told the young man, his voice sounding mechanical and muffled from the breath mask and the bacta. But there was no mistaking the anger and authoritive tone in his voice. If Zevulon failed to help him for a third time, Veers vowed he would never forgive the child. Not even if the young man dropped to his knees and begged for his father's forgiveness.

"Grand Moff, we have captured several shuttles attempting to escape from the damaged lead Destroyer," a homely Lieutenant spoke, excitement in his voice.

Tarquin regarded him with fury. "Shuttles, you say? Please, I beg, for your sake, tell me something worth my while was on them."

    "Oh yes, sir. Indeed."

Most of the shuttles contained some crewers and a few arms here and there. But one of them was quite different. One of those shuttles contained the leader of these Rebels. Kuan. A detestable vermin in the eyes of the Outer Rim Imperials. His tactics were that of a junior officer and his sledge-hammer approach to battle, as seen at the Slaughter of Roon, was not always successful. In fact, Admiral Severus and the Grand Moff counted on Kuan's arrogance in numbers for their victory at Roon.

"The Traitor Kuan approaches with slander on his lips and defeat in his heart," the dark creature Tarquin had brought back from Chandrilla said. "He may serve some purpose."

"Creature! I am the one who will decide this man's fate. Do not encroach on my authority."

The little thing moved with unthinkable speed, lifting Tarquin out of his boots and against the bulk-head.

It eyed him without eyes, cocked its head and stared deep into Tarquin's soul. "Don't for a moment believe you control me, Grand Moff," significant sarcastic stress was placed on Grand Moff. "I can kill you where you stand."

Tarquin smiled through the pain, "But you won't. You can't."

Seti's body was lowered to the black, buffered, Imperial floor.

"Do what you must, Grand Moff." The creature left the chambers of Tarquin. Seti never knew where the being went where it left. Nor did he care. Seti kept him because he knew that it would serve some purpose, as Kuan would. Seti's attention shifted.

"Kuan," Tarquin spoke aloud, viewing the hologram of the man before him. "I have you now."

The Imperial fleet, now freed of the communications jamming roamed the battle field, towing vessels out of the gravity well of Roon and boarding the damaged ships. One of the IFF transponder computers was taken from the damaged vessels and the rebel IFF frequencies were recorded and uploaded to the HoloNet and Yaga Minor.

The shields of Roon had been easily brought down by concentrated fire and now the Imperials lay in wait on the far side, away from the Ion Cannons that had, with unusual swiftness for the rebels, been erected near the garrisons and rebel encampments on Roon. The Slaughter of Roon had ended. The Battle would be continued at some later time under some other Admirals and Generals.

The shipyards of Roon had been pacified and were now under Imperial control. Fortunately, the rebels thought it wise to begin deconstructing the yards. The Imperials would finish that and take them for themselves. The Yaga Minor shipyards would become a combined Imperial production facility.

Things were winding down and the Joyous Gard was now en route to Yaga Minor with her cargo. En route to Demon Platform./>/>
