If Darth stands for Dark Lord of the Sith, the same title could be used for a female - Dark Lady of the Sith. Would you prefer something else? What title can you come up with?

Sith Witch sounds so disrespectful and out of place. Darth seems like a respectful title, Dark LORD of the sith.

Actually, 'Darth' means 'Dark' in Dutch or something...so I think a Dark Lady of the Sith would have a Darth name.

I think 'Sith Witch' could be the official name for a female Sith; while thinking up designs for a new Sith in both Episodes 1 and 2, the art department guys made a load of 'Sith Witch' designs - the name could have come from Lucas...

Well I look at it like this...the Jedi call themselves Jedi whether they are Male or Female, human or alien.

Therefore, I will say that the Sith would be the same way.

Considering the Emperors well-known prejudice against non-humans and females, I don't think we'll ever get the answer to that if he has anything to say about it. Although there is a race of force-sensitive women called the Witches of Dathomir. Check 'em out... they ride Rancors! I challenge Palpy to try riding one of THOSE beasts!

I too was thinking of Darthette although it's somewhat degrgading. ;) Too close to Smurfette. I can picture this conversation.....

Sith Lady: Everything is proceeding according to plan, I take it?

    Minion: Yes, Darthette.

Sith Lady:  Very well. But I will speak to Master Lucas about that name.

I would assume Darth is a unisex title.

Could someone who is into EU please enlighten us if there has ever been a Dark Lady and if so, what was her title? :)

I've heard of that Darth=Dark in dutch before, an online translator did not confirm it for me.

If it is a non English word then in that language there could be a feminine inflection for it.

Sure, calling a female Sith Darth works for me. However, would a female leader of Alderaan be called "Bail"? And, then, of course, would a female Sith leader of Alderaan be called Darth Bail? ;)

While I don't speak dutch, I do speak Afrikaans and the two languages are very similar. I'm 95% sure "Darth" isn't dutch for "dark". The dutch word for dark is likely "donker" or some variation thereof.

Hehe, yeah let me tell you, I did not write the Dutch words for 'dark' down, but if GL had gone with those the characters would have been making fun of Vader rather than be afraid of him. [face_laugh]

If Darth stands for Dark Lord of the Sith

Actually, the tilte DARTH is used amongst the Sith in honor of DARTH BANE who was the first known DARTH, and the greates during the Sith reemerge after the Sith War.

    She'd be called a Sith Dudette! :D

    :p

Seriously. I think a female Sith could still have the title of "Darth", since it would represent Dark Lady of the Sith. And her Master (and everyone else) would call her Lady ..... (whatever her name would be). :)
