Would it be wise to read Dark Journey before Star By Star?

I had this same question about Conquest & Balance Point, because I want to wait to buy SBS in paperback. When I read Conquest and went back to Balance Point, I wasn't very lost because I kept up with most of the spoilers from BP. However the only thing I know about SBS is that Anakin dies. Would it be folly to read DJ before SBS?

Read Star By Star first, its a must. Conquest and Balence Point were fine, I did the same thing because I didn't want to buy BP on hardcover.

Can't you get SbS from a library?

Not all librarys carry the newest hardbacks, they got a budget to keep.

Not when you live in a rural desert town of 30,000 people.

you have to read SBS to understand what Jaina's going through in DJ even if you do know Anakin dies.

Well the general consensus says read SBS first. That's all I wanted to know. I know what to do now. Thank you!

Personally, I get confused jumping back and forth different time periods. I also like seeing clear character development that you just don't get from reading spoiler summaries. But if you can handle it, read DeeJay.

If you get money or a job (God forbid :p ) soon, go ahead and get SbS. Or, you can probably order a SbS from another library to yours. (That worked for me when I searched for all the canon Wizard of Oz books.)

I don't like buying the hardcovers either; I almost always wait for the paperbacks.

But I just couldn't wait that long to read SbS, so I bought it used from Amazon.com. You'd never know it wasn't a new book, and it was only, I think, $8.50.

So MoronDude, before you go forking over full price for it, you might want to see if you can get a good price on a used one at Amazon.

JadedofMara, I only consider the ones by L. Frank Baum himself to be canonical.

No! I was lucky enough to find Dark Journey at our bookstore a few days before it was supposed to be released, and I was half way through Star by Star. Finish Star by Star first, so you can understand Dark Journey. ;)

I live in a county of 40,000 people and several of the libraries carry SBS.
