ST Would you accept a double colored lightsaber?

I'm not for it. Sounds more like a fashion statement than a weapon. Maybe for parades?

 

It would just look too weird.

 

Been thinking about this a lot, too! Especially since the Visual Dictionary specifically states about Snoke "displaying an interest in Kylo Ren due to his embodiment of a balance between both the light and dark sides of the Force, as opposed to only one aspect".

 

It was a beautiful image in the picture I saw. But I think we should stick with one color.

 

I'm for it! Granted there's some good reason behind it. Also, Rey'd look so cool wielding it XD

 

Unless Rey gets her hand chopped off and loses her sabre down a shaft, why wouldn't she just be using Luke/Anakins?

I think the disadvantage would be even larger than Maul's double Blade, especially if it isn't made of Phrik alloy (the TR-8R and Magna guards had weapons made out of this), to make it usable closer together. it should probably be detachable, so you can get around some of these problems. The reach would help keep distance from the cross guards though

 

I wouldn't like blue/red etc. Red should always be kept for the villains.

Wouldn't mind blue/green, green/purple etc. Though.

Simple is better. It's one thing if my 6 year old niece and nephew make dual colored saber toys to play with. It is another thing entirely to put it into a movie and expect the audience to take it seriously.

 

I think it looks daft (and needlessly complicated, to boot).

 

Ya haha, next Snoke pulls out a blue/red striped like a candy cane saber and Luke has a rainbow one.

I have this theory that one of the major themes of this trilogy will be about learning to balance the Dark and the Light within one's self. You already have that with Kylo and his constant internal battle. You got hints of it with Rey, which could be expanded upon moving forward. And you might also get it with Luke even, since he's had that struggle in the past as well.

So perhaps such a lightsaber could be a visual representation of this idea, maybe.

Regardless, I DO think that Rey should end up building her own lightsaber, one that most fits her skillset and her journey, instead of being pigeon-holed into using Luke and Anakin's old blade.

 

Accept it: Yes, albeit reluctantly.
Like it: No, I think they should keep it simple.

 

I like the idea of a blue and red lightsaber for this reason. If Rey turns out to be related to the Skywalkers, maybe she finds Darth Vader's lightsaber (which might be floating around in the new canon) and connects the two together. She represents the legacy of Anakin's two sides. I think her identity as a "scavenger" raised in the literal rubble of the OT will become even more symbolic. She adopts the saber, the Falcon, possibly Chewie and R2 as sidekicks. She is the one to "salvage" the legacy of the Saga.

 

Eh, Ehhhhhhhhhh ..... I dunno. I guess it stands to reason that a Force user could somehow acquire crystals of two different colors. OTOH seems like it would look kinda silly.

I can't say I'm against it at all, especially given how this trilogy really is, as others have said, more about the real balance than ever before.

*I know, Popsicle zone (woahhoah!) but still.

 

Honestly, i'm not sure it would look that great, and i'd much rather see her use two sabers : a red and a blue.

But of course, you have to make up a good story for that....
