Would you buy the Star Wars Holiday Special if it was released on DVD?

Sorry, I meant to say that I definitely would not buy the DVD of the holiday special, even if it did include the Fett cartoon. I just hope they release the Fett cartoon with the DVD of the Ewoks/Droids (if that ever comes out - see my petition).

 

He probably didn't want his name on it. It's pretty common knowledge that he loathes the Holiday Special which is why it won't see the light of day if he has a say in it.

I have a copy and I was watching the credits... is Lucas' name even attached to this fine piece of cinematic history? I didn't see it. Maybe a "based on Star Wars by George Lucas" but I don't even think he produced it.

I believe Lucas disowned the unholy object before it even aired. He's gone on record saying that he wishes he could hunt down every copy and destroy it.

Alas, the advent of the Internet has unearthed the vile thing and made it available for free to any willing masochist.

The cartoon is pretty good, though, and many people don't know it marks the first appearance of Boba Fett. IMO, they should remove the cartoon from the special and release it alongside, say, the Clone Wars cartoons.

I have a friend who actually bought a VHS recording of the Holiday Special, made from a master tape. She and her family love to "Mystery Science Theater 3000" it.

It'd have been hilarious if, during one of those tributes to Harrison Ford that's taken place in recent years, some jokester sneaked in a Han scene from the Holiday Special during the clip montage. Then the camera cuts to: Ford, desperately trying to dig a hole in the floor so he can crawl into it.

 

Heck yeah! The Holiday Special is freaking hilarious! Wookiee porn, anyone?

The thing is cheesey, irritating, badly written, badly acted, has leia singing (can you really call that singing?)in it.

I would buy it yes. I agree its cheesy, but he its Star Wars and i still like the idea of seeing Chewies family. Maybe they should add an extra subtitle option so that we can see what the wooks are saying.

 

I liked "Ewoks: Battle For Endor" much better than the Holiday Special.

The Star Wars Holiday Special, should not be watched if you operate heavy machinery, if you are pregnant or if your have trouble sleeping.

It has been know to promote vomiting and sudden uncontrolable bowel movement.

In labratory animals it has been known to cause cancer and / or the detachment of the retna.

Young boys have been known to have hair grow in the palm of their hands and it has been know to send young girls to the nunnery.

Chinesse prison camps briefly experimented with using is as a torture device. The prisoners actually wnated to die and the technique was soon discarded.

 

I would buy it because I haven't seen it yet, but it really sounds like you people hated this thing a lot. What was so bad about it?

Another thing is, why would anyone make a Star Wars Holiday Special, that is just plain stupid.
