I'm not sure what would be worse, an Ewok or one of those Gizkas from KOTOR.

i would love to have an Ewok as a pet(as long as the Ewok didn't mind) i always loved the Ewoks and never understood why people dont like them so much just becouse they happen to look cute doesn't mean they cant be a very intelligent and cunning species.[face_coffee] -and they are a hell of a lot better than the gungans!

Gizka. At least an Ewok can get you a drink or something. If you have have a small fridge.

It's probably a better idea than those crazy people who keep wampas for pets.

That's true, but at least if you have a Gizka as a pet you can pick it up and strangle it every time you're mad or just plain bored.

    A pet? No.

But...I would let one live in a forest behind my house. Keeps the trespassers at bay.

Taun Tauns make good pets too.

Even exported off world, such as Tatooine, they do well.

If I owned my own starship I would crew it with ewoks. When the Falcon had engine trouble in Empire, Chewie was so big he barely fit into it. but with a crew of ewoks you could fit five to ten of them in the same space and get more work done. Plus they are apparently kryptonite to stormtroopers.

If they are raised from from newborns on Tatooine, they do just fine.

If you were to raise a husky in Palm Springs, his body would adjust and have short fur, then if you moved to Alaska, the dogs' body would adapt and grow long fur.

[face_not_talking] Never. Ewoks are sentient, that would be an insult to have one as a pet. :p

Ugnaughts are even smaller than Ewoks.

Why not use them instead of Ewok? Plus, they don't have long fur that can shed and
get into moving parts or in oil.

With five to ten of either of those species, that's five to ten paychecks you'd have to pay twice a month.

Is that really cost-effective? I think Ugnauhgts use money, but do Ewoks use money? If not, would you really
want a bunch of Ewok fur all over the place gettting into vital engine parts?

An Ewok isn't a intimidating creature like Chewbacca. They're too small to have your back, and they can't even fly
a spaceship. The same with Ugnaughts.

Why didn't Han ask Chewy to wear long gloves to prevent his hair from getting into vital parts?

    Sentient;

?adjective 1. having the power of perception by the senses; conscious.
    2. characterized by sensation and consciousness.
?noun 3. a person or thing that is sentient.
    4. Archaic. the conscious mind.

Being sentient doesn't preclude a creature from being a pet.

By this definition, cats, dogs and horses are sentient, but they make great pets.

I think an Ewok is too intelligent to be someone's pet.

They have their own society, they're hunters and warriors and most of all, they make cool
hanggliders. I don't know how practical a hangglider is in a forest, but, hey, at least Uncle
George thought it would look cool.

The hanggliders are also good in the open areas of endor as shown in one of the Ewoks films.

Animals act on instincts, they can't think like you and I. The Ewoks could obviously think.

 So sad. Where did this idea come from and why is it so persistent?

This came from a dude that was obviously VERY bored at the time. As for the original question... never in my life would I own an Ewok. They are an intelligent species and deserve better recognition than as furry short creatures that throw spears. [face_skull]
