Souderwan I can't like enough just how lovely & fantastic your opening post is... the greatness -even with all the damn nonsense- about this place is that you come into contact with people you'd wouldn't have otherwise. I hope we're able to meet up someday. Thanks for adding your perspective, etc, to this corner of the internets.

Feel like I've only really gotten to know you in the U.S. Society & Black Men thread, so not the best circumstances probably, but your posts there are always cogent and honest. I particularly appreciate the way you allow yourself to express emotions like anger and, if not cynicism, a kind of weary disgust when talking about the racist systems that still fill the world we live in. I mean, way for me to bring down the thread, but your willingness to occasionally just post that you're too angry and tired to keep reading the news or trying to help people understand is quite moving to me. I'm going to hope that I'm one of the "empathetic" posters from that thread that you mention in the first post. Anyway, it feels like everyone who posts in that thread has dealt with more than a healthy amount of racist rants and infuriating trolling. But, well, I'm going long and it's weird to be talking about racism in your tenth anniversary thread, but anyway, I respect you, you express your opinions thoughtfully and honestly and you're on the right side of history (as am I and so many other supportive and intelligent people in that thread). Anyway, congratulations; we've never spent much time chatting or anything, but I like your posts and your opinions. Your presence here is a net benefit for the community.
