Wow Luke Skywalker is TINY! Anyone why are all the pilots tiny? Who man is the smallest in order?

Which may be why he crashed.

 

That IS why he crashed, according to the book; Jek miscalculated how fast he was going, angle of descent, etc, because his inertial compensator was up all the way.

 

Vader was about 6'6" or 6'7" and he flew a TIE so I don't think pilots necessarily have to be short.

 

I believe there is a line somewhere that says Wedge is taller then Corran. I know Asyr Sei'lar and Lujayne Forge were both short (but they're also women, who tend to be shorter then men). Gavin Darklighter is described as being tall, on the other hand.

Actually, this made me think about pilot height. I'd never really given it much thought prior to now.

Wedge *is* taller than Corran. Wedge is well taller than Luke, and Luke is the same height as Corran. By the transitive property of mathematics...
Luke < Wedge
Luke = Corran
therefore..
Corran < Wedge

 

I believe in the galaxy of SW, ships have adjustable seats more comfortable than our cars here on earth. I don't think it matters how tall or short you are. Look at Anakin Skywalker. Even as Anakin, not Vader, Hayden is quite tall.

And, I think Luke is 5'7". I know Corran is about two inches shorter than Luke, (I, Jedi reference), and Wedge...I don't know, but I always thought he was a couple inches taller than Luke and a little shorter than Han.

Pilots are like Thoroughbred (I know I didn't spell that right) riders, they have to be small otherwise the ship will have a heart attack trying to move.

Jek had his inertial compensator dialed at full because he was a heavy man. He didn't want to have his weight being made to feel extra. This is why he crashed. If he'd had his interial compensator dialed lower, he would have realised he wasn't pulling up, and so could have ejected, his fighter, however would have crashed still. Also, some pilots may be small, but others are tall. Runt, is really tall. He's taller than Kell. Another note, is that Kell was unconfortable in a fighter because he had broad shoulders, not because he was tall. He thinks about this, and that Piggy has broader shoulders than him, so therefor should be more uncomfortable.

Didn't it say that Runt is very nearly as tall as Kell, not taller? And yeah, IIRC it talks about how Piggy really had to jam hiself into the cockpit.

I think Runt is taller than Kell.
And not all pilots are necessarily short. My dad is over 6ft and he's a fighter pilot.
