Mine's in! It's amazing how many rewrites you can do while keeping the ending the same...

 

I was so tempted to use the word "Zorba" as in "Zorba the Hutt's revenge" for mine, but instead did "zeal."

I'm really curious to see people's entries after the judging has been done.

 

Congrats to all those who submitted a story! Don't forget the next challenge, which takes place tomorrow--check the first post for a tentative schedule to the game.

Are you going to post the winning entries in this thread? I'd like to read all the entries, but I really want to see what won the prizes.

 

I think I got around 20 entries.


As for posting the stories... Do ya'll want me to

(a) List only the winners,
(b) List the winners with their stories (and everyone else can post their stories if they want to), or
(c) List the winners and then all the stories?



BTW, I don't like that word "winners." We'll have three places but I've enjoyed skimming through so many of them. Ya'll are very creative.

I suggest you post the winning (what other word should we use?) entries in order. That way we can all easily see the winning entries. Then post the rest of them either after that or in a second post so the people who don't care can skip them, but those of us who are interested can still read them. (I fall in the second category, myself.)

'Cause you know we'll never see some of the ones that didn't placee if you don't post them. That'd be a shame b/c they are probably awesome.

I might feel differently if you'd gotten like 200 entries, but with just twenty... I'd like to read them all. )

I vote for post them all too. I want to see what everyone else came up with.

It might be fun to make it a separate thread and let others add to it later outside the official race too.

P.S. Kettch, the third challenge has an interesting end date... You might want to fix it though I am sure everyone can figure it out.

Challenge 2: There?s a Pessimist in Us All


Points Awarded: 1st- 6 points, 2nd- 5 points, 3rd- 4 points

Judge Points: NA

Start Time: Thursday, March 3rd at noon

Duration: 30 hours

End Time: Friday, March 4th at 6 pm

Judged Based on: Depression/Sadness

The Challenge: Write a 500 word or less Star Wars scene that takes place during a celebration scene in the movies (the end of ANH, TPM, ROTJ, etc.) that is either sad or depressing but still cannon. In other words, you cannot have Yoda eat too much at the TPM celebration and choke to death since that would contradict the next movie, but you can have the Rebels celebrating at the end of ROTJ when suddenly the Ewoks decide their hunger is stronger than their affinity for their new allies so things turn nasty (as long as it takes place after the movie scene). You are allowed to contradict the EU. If you want to know your official word count, paste your scene into Microsoft Word and go by its word count.

Special Instructions: Judging for this challenge will be done by vote. Once all the submissions are PMed to me (and I have made sure they are under 501 words) I will conglomerate them without names and post them together. Everyone who submits an entry will be required to vote for their favorite and second-favorite stories (once again in terms of which is the saddest or most depressing and they will obviously not allowed to vote for their own stories). I anticipate posting the entries within 24 hours of the deadline but I am not promising.
