    I think it's explained as much as it needs to be, but I also think that one brief line of dialogue in which it is said that Dooku/Tyrannus killed Syfo-Dias to keep him quiet would have been good. It would add all of about 8 seconds to the film, and not left it hanging.

    It is explored further in The Clone Wars and in the Darth Plagueis novel, but not fully resolved in the movies themselves.
