(WT#8)(Day 1)(O)Who Composes the Triad of Cool?

Among our modern Hollywood heroes, who are the three coolest?

My votes:

1.Christopher Walken - I feel very strongly about this, of all the three this is the one I won't budge on.

2.Robert Deniro - Are you lookin' at me?

3.Samuel L. Jackson - The baddest of the bad.

 

I like your list. I don't know how "cool" Deniro is, but he is bad ass.

 

Yeah Deniro isn't always as "cool" as Walken and Jackson, but he can definitely play cool as well as anybody... in Good Fellas, Casino, even in a movie like Meet the Parents.

 

Phew, Tom. I really wouldn't know. I tend not to regard actors as being cool or uncool, so I'll just give you three actors I like:

1. Anyone who's in my two favourite films, has got to make this list, so: Sean Gullette. In "Pi", he was just marvellous: very autistic, weltfremd.

2. Nicole Kidman. I almost believe any film with her is worthwile, though things like "Far And Away" are pretty useless. But she's a great actress, stylish, aristocratic a bit even, and I think I like that in an actress. That's why I like Grace Kelly.

3. Peter Sellers. Forget the Pink Panther stuff, and go watch "The Optimists of Nine Elms", "Hoffman", the improvised scene at the beginning of "Lolita" -- he's, to me, the greatest actor that ever lived. A nasty man in real life, but I don't have to live with him, so frick that.

 

I know, it's impossible to pick the 3 coolest really. I just thought this might make for an interesting discussion.

Sean Gullette was indeed amazing in Pi, I think that's all I've seen him in.

Nicole Kidman - I suppose i was being a bit sexist with my list, but if we're including women she goes on my list, Helena Bonham Carter as well.

Peter Sellers - I purposefully said modern hollywood heroes because if we get into all-time greats this becomes even more impossible. But Peter Sellers is probably my favorite actor of all time, at least he's one of them, so if we were going to do the "all-time" list he would definitely be on it.

A couple of modern actors who could easily have made my list are Ewan Mcgregor and Gary Oldman.

 

Yeah, I cheated. I just had to mention him.

 

My mind always goes blank when I have to think of things like this, so as soon as I come with any more, I'll post them. I just wanted to say that I completely agree with all of your choices so far.
