    I have a lot of those. They're fun to do: you just start somewhere, anywhere, and one character or image triggers another. I like the purple priest padding that little sick guy on the head, while he's reaching for a bomb. And the skull girl, as I call her, she's in there too a couple of times. I like her.

    [image=http://www.speaking-of-witch.com/starwars/drawing4sm.jpg]

    A Christmas card I did last year. I was looking into a ball once and, seeing myself in it, thought: "Wouldn't it be crazy if I actually was in it?" So that's how this one came about.

    [image=http://www.speaking-of-witch.com/starwars/drawing3sm.jpg]

    The stray cat Gollum that just turned up at our door one day. He said, "Just so you know, I wasn't really thinking of leaving anymore. Anyway. Food?" I had to draw fast because he kept changing positions, and I only had three or four felt-tip pens at my disposal.

    [image=http://www.speaking-of-witch.com/starwars/drawing5sm.jpg]

    Here I thought: Imagine you've been invited to a party. You walk up to the entrance, and what would be a mad thing to see? A green cat, OK, a monkey in a suit, hm-hm, a flying fish, yeaaah, a femme fatale being intimate with a yellow lion in a big shiny coat -- zing! Bingo. I like how the lion looks at the woman's breasts. It's actually part of a bigger drawing, and I was planning to colour it all, until I did some tests with colours and liked it as it is now. The yellow is pretty wild in this scan, the original isn't so stark and bright.

    [image=http://www.speaking-of-witch.com/starwars/drawing6sm.jpg]

    I call this one "Elvis Singin' And Swingin' In The Rain". I like the colours. It's like he's standing in the rain, cooling off after some sweaty concert, and opening his mouth to let some rain in. Or maybe he's in a frozen position on the stage, during a slow gospel song, and waits for the music to start again.

    Anyway -- hope you like them!

    Thanks. :D

    I could only pick from the drawings I did on little cards, postcard format, because when you scan bigger drawings the edges tend to get discoloured. I tried one, but it looked like a mess.

    And thanks to Kerr_Plunk for hosting them!

    Wow, so those are normally much smaller? They still look very detailed, even blown up like that.

    The originals are quite a bit smaller, yes -- except the Elvis one. That one's about the same size.

    A4 format is hard to scan, I wish I could pull that off.

    Thanks, thanks. [face_blush]

    I just never know how to respond to compliments. But I remember them all.

    WOW! I love your style, it's so vibrant. Have you ever considered doing illustrations for books? :D

    I did, Meg -- and thanks! -- but when you do that, you're always limited. When you do an illustration for a book, it needs to convey a certain aspect of that book, or a storypoint or scene.

    I rather let my imagination run wild, and draw whatever I like. Stream-of-consciousness-drawing, almost.

    (I am thinking of writing and illustrating a children's book, though -- it's easier to do illustrations for your own books).

    That's a great idea, Casper. Children would love your imagination. :)

    My grandmother writes books (some for kids). I've done a few illustrations for them, but she's got a new one coming out that I did the cover for... I'm pretty excited about it. [face_blush]
    Ah, nepotism... ;)

    Hey cool! Share! Share!

    Unless you don't want that. But I'm pretty curious about your style.

    Well, unfortunately I'm not allowed to share the cover of the book before it is released... and I don't have any of the other illustrations from her books scanned in...

    I do have some on the net, though:

    Oh yeah, I have seen the first one. You've captured the look in his eyes -- very tricky stuff to do.

    And I love Maul's anatomy. Also difficult to get right (and you've got the look in his eyes again).

    You know when someone's a good illustrator when he / she doesn't shrink back for those things. :)

    Eyes (and hands!) are the most difficult aspect of a person to capture, in my opinion. I'm really flattered that you think I was able to achieve it, Casper. :D

    I miss drawing, I haven't really had a chance to sit down and do it lately.

    Yeah, I know the feeling. Same here a bit. I always draw, but lately it's mainly on little sheets of paper, beermats, that sort of thing. I'd like to do a big one again.

    And indeed: hands! It took me hours to get the guy's hands in the christmas tree ball (what's the word for that?) right.

    I don't know what those things are called... um, Christmas balls, I guess. ;)

    I love to doodle, I do that compulsively. :D I definitely don't devote enough time to large pieces, though.

    Wow, you're an awesome artist too Meg!

    Myself, I'm terrible at drawing, but Laurie is quite good. Here are a couple of her's...

    Well I told her, but she was reading your post at the time, in fact I was reading over her shoulder. :p

    She says thank you, it was incredibly kind of you to say so, and she's blushing and embarrassed and appreciates it very much.

    :D

    I just can't stop looking at that first image of hers... it almost looks like a Klimpt. :)

    The face is actually based on a picture of Kurdt Cobain from the cover of a sassy magazine.

    :D

    Laurie wants you to know that she's totally blown away by your compliments. Here is a bit bigger version. You can see more of the detail in this one.

    She deserves every word of praise. :)

    I just can't stop staring at this! The detail is amazing... I wish I could get this art on a scarf or something.

    She says someday she might make it into a t-shirt for you. :D

    The kids spilled orange soda on it a while ago, that's why it's a bit funky and discolored looking.
