Has he stated this or is it just speculation? I've always heard that he loves playing the character. I can understand why he would want to though. This will be his seventh time playing Wolverine if you count the First Class cameo.

 

He's not signed beyond these two movies (The Wolverine and Days of Future Past) and has expressed interest in spending time with his family. While that's not necessarily him backing out, he has been playing the character nearly a decade and a half. I wouldn't be surprised in the least that he might want to walk away.

I was just saying that if he wants out, the famous DOFP death could be a way to close that chapter for him. Purely speculation on my part, nothing more.

 

I guess it depends on how good The Wolverine is. Everything that I've read about it sounds promising so far.

 

And how many truckfulls of money Fox is willing to send over to his house.

I am guessing Peter Dinklage will either be playing Bantam (Trevor Fitzroys sidekick) or the Watcher.

 

I'm quite looking forward to seeing the original X-Men cast return, I loved First Class so to have both casts together is just awesomely bittersweet. Glad to see Paige as Kitty again and I hope we are in for some more surprise casting announcements!

Does Fox have the rights to the Watcher character? I know he is generally related to the Fantastic Four but could Marvel possibly own the rights?

 

As long as this film averts X3 from happening, I don't care who's in it, or what they do.

 

I thinks its safe to say the events of X3 won't matter too much with Singer involved. X2 is still one of my favorite comic book films to this day.

Huh. I can see him being Bantam, Trevor Fitzroy's buddy/slave. he could even be some nameless character, just like Oliver Platt in First Class.

As bad as X-Men 3 was, I would rather it not be completely ignored.

 

Bolivar Trask 101: Peter Dinklage's Villain Role In 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Revealed?

 

Well if they can ignore Bolivar Trask going from a 6 foot tall bald black guy to a 3 and a half foot white hairy dwarf, then I fully expect Phoenix to rise from the ashes and Cyclops to return from the astral plane.

Well Wolverine went from somebody just shy of 5ft and somewhat stocky to an athletic and slim-ish guy just above 6ft with the occassional Aussie accent seeping in, so why not?

 

He meant the Bolivar Trask character played by Bill Duke in X3. Still another reason to utterly DELETE that movie from existence.

And let's face it, can you think of one actor - past and present - who could've portrayed a "realistic-looking" Wolverine without sfx make up, prothesis and whatnot?

 

No, but I've seen maybe one or two professional wrestlers/MMA fighters who could probably physically resemble the comic Wolverine in terms of height and build. But then you'd probably have a much different Wolverine than the one we got in Jackman.

 

Oh dammit, I had no idea that character was supposed to be Uncle Bolly. What a waste.
