ST Incom T-70: X-Wings in the ST

It would be quite fun if the new X-wing sees no combat in Episode 7 and therefore never opens it's S-foils. #WhatWouldGetYouToWalkOutOfEpisode7

 

That would be funny as hell. Would hate that but still funny.

Is it me or does that X-Wing look like a old X-Wing from the OT?

 

It is near impossible to tell with it being covered with tarps. You'd have to be trying really hard and wanting to see distinguishing details from these shots.

Agreed. The differences between the OT and ST X-Wing would be difficult to spot at that distance, much less with tarps on.

 

Once the tarps are off then, hopefully we will be able to determine if they are classic x-wings or the new x-wing.

 

Well the new X-Wing didn't look as long in the front as those pics of course it could just be the angles of both.

 

I think you are right about the new x-wing looking shorter. I guess we shall find out soon enough.

With the power of photoshop, I straightened out the perspective and overlayed an original xwing.

I believe this is just the new X-wing.

1. Shorter laser canons.
2. Smaller thrusters.

 

I should hope so. Three decades have passed and there's still a Republic/Alliance base filled with 30-year-old X-Wings (this wouldn't be a bad thing if not for the fact Abrams revealed the newer version)? The planet this base is on must be the Star Wars equivalent of a Third World Country or something.

This does not give off a military vibe to me. It doesn't look to me like a formal Republic setting. Perhaps they are dealing with independent organizations or pirates?

Looks like one painted black. The article at the link says that they think that they are filming a scene in this shot.

 

So it looks like this is a battle we are about to witness with the Alliance mustering there forces?

 

Looks too much like a jumbled and unorganized mess there for me to call it the Alliance. Unless the Alliance never took a seat of power. To me it looks like it might be an independent front or pirate organization. Just speculating on a very blurry image though.

 

They may not actually be shooting when that photo is taken. Also I think it is a military effort seeing as how they are filming this at an old military base.

 

It is clearly militaristic. My point is that to me it is too jumbled and unorganized to be a government set up. It looks like a private organization. It has the look of a temporary make-shift base.

 

I think you are reading to much into this. They are most likely just moving ships around on the set for shots. Also probably many more ships will be cged into the shots for the movie.
