I voted for the bottom 2, while I love old cars.. I like newer one better!

Unfortunately, the speculation turned out to be false… and after getting in touch with Robert Bailey himself, I was told that the artwork is not related to the production of ‘Star Wars VII’.
“These are definitely not concept drawings from the next Star Wars movie,” he explained. “They are based upon the Star Wars trailer, which as you know is in the public arena. I can fully understand how these rumours start, and that fans are very excited about the upcoming film. But Lucasfilm would not allow the release of concept frames at this time.

Thanks for the clarification starocean90. Those sketches (that always blows me away when an accomplished artist calls something that detailed a sketch), are gorgeous regardless.

 

Yes, they were improved models of the T-65. There were a series of them, one of them were the Stealth-X's you mentioned, but the entire series of them were actually called T65XJ X-wings.

Think like the F-18 Hornet to the F-18 Super Hornet though in changes.

Not really the same fighter anymore other than it's shape and S-foils.

So it sounded like not much change, but the changes were pretty impactful and modernized the fighter platform itself.

 

I love the new X-wings. They look cool, but what got me in the teaser was the SOUND. Brought back so many memories... absolutely loved it.

Not digging the new X-Wings. I see very little noticeable difference between them and the ones in the OT, and that's disappointing. Brand new ship designs would be a good way to start setting this trilogy apart from the OT, so it can stand on its own.

 

Hmm... engine cowlings, s-foil design, blaster mounts, height, length, nose shape... all noticeably different, look like natural evolutions to me.

Love the X-wings above all in the entire series, so I'm thrilled to see these.. I love them! At the same time... yes, we will still see plenty of new stuff as well!

 

Not enough for some people apparently. ARC 170 to X-Wing like differences probably.

 

Just a guess, but I have a feeling we will see other (new) starfighter designs in the ST besides those seen in the 88-second teaser-trailer...

 

Those are tiny changes lol. The design is still noticeably and obviously that of an X-Wing, to the point where even at a glance it's instantly recognizable as being one.

And sure, we might see more star fighter designs, but in what capacity? Right now pretty much everything that's been shown so far is just retreading the ground that the OT has already covered. I'd like to see something actually new looking pop up, something unique and inspired, instead of more of the same.

 

Anybody know if this is real? I'm seeing classic X-wings, and I like it!

 

That was a CG example of BB-8 from some fan. They did an incredible job of it too.

 

Man they really nailed the energy of the series with the camera move and music combo. I'm getting more excited than ever now!

 

I suspect we'll see new spacecraft, settings etc. The X Wings were part of the nostalgia portion of the teaser and they work for me.

 

I don't know if anyone's already posted this, but I thought this fan-made 3D rendering of the new X-Wing looks pretty rad.

More like "Is this a closer look at the new Star Wars X-Wing???" or "This fan's mock-up of the new X-Wing will blow your mind." - Hitfix, cinemablend, et al.

 

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. Or...leaked pre-viz renderings straight from TFA's visual effects dept.
