X3 (X-men 3) Discussion Thread - Spoilers Allowed

I read somewhere that the next trailer is due in March.

 

yep. that's what a lot of reports have said. i wonder what movie the trailer will be attached to. it'll probably be released on the internet also. i figure since the teaser trailer was able to be downloaded on to the xbox 360 this one will be also

That makeup job on Colossus looks really bad. I sure hope that isn't the finished product. In X2 he looked a lot better than that.

 

for all we know that could be as he's going from looking normal to metal or vice-versa bc if u look at the promo stills of him. his eyes are fully metallic

 

Yeah, Colossus doesn't look very impressive. Looks rather plastic. I'm sure he'll look much more realistic in motion though. I hope so at least. I still say Vinnie Jones looks ridiculous as the Juggernaut, the padding looks so obvious, and the drag queen shoes with three inch lifts are rather silly looking as well.

 

If X3 is a visual feast, that'll keep our minds off of the storyline for a little bit. Maybe.

No sir I don't like it.

The posters look super cheesy.

None of the promo shots look good at all. Colossus looks bad (though cg metal eyes would probably help). The sentinel mock-up didn't wow (though again not finished product). Every still shot I've seen of Jean just kind of scares me.

people are saying it looks bad. well consider somethings. to those talking about the promo still posters. those aren't actual shots in the movie. they're just for promotion so don't go off saying it looks fake and stuff. it doesn't necissarily mean that's a shot from the movie. for those talking about collosus. did u ever think that shot is when he's in the middle of going from flesh to metal or metal to flesh?

 

Why, the posters look cheesy. If they were fan made I'd say they look good enough for fan made but now they just look like a bad iPod rip. If it looks bad it looks bad, movie still or not.

If Colossus is mid-transition it still looks really bad but that's what CGI is for. I'd be willing to bet that too is a promo shot just pre-rendering. Like you said they'll CG the eyes on, probably tweak the metal look a bit and they'll probably pull it off. As it is in that shot I've seen better costumes at K-mart.

Stills from most any comic movie are that way. There was a reason that they didn't used to make a lot of them. Because when you try and dress up a grown man (or woman) to look like a comic they just end up looking ridiculous. You're able to lose most of that in the movies because you're caught up in the whole suspension of disbelief thing.

 

That sentenal looks like crap, they should have stuck with the look from the cartoon

 

Well to be honest I don't think a pink and purple robot would look too great either.

For that matter why is that a recurring theme in the Marvel Universe. Big things in pink and purple

 

Agreed, I'd be willing to bet a lot of those shots are pre cgi, especially the colossus one. Even mystiques eyes aren't completely yellow, as that is all being done by CGI, the best bet is to just assume that, for now.

 

More proof that the best Super Hero movie of the summer will be Superman Returns.

Yeah its pretty obvious there are some promo/pre-filming shots in there. You still get in the same cyclical argument we've been having for awhile. They still don't look good. Pre-filming, pre-rendering, mid transformation. Still looks bad.

 

word is that the full trailer for X3 will be shown in theaters with V for Vendetta in March
