That was a great banner you had up in Comms guys. I really hope the artiste who designed such a marvellous and groundbreaking deconstruction of the banner genre gets the colours he/she throughly deserves.

It was fun. The problem with people saying the jokes are lame is that they aren;t taking into account they're looking for jokes, so it's hard to play them.

And if Nidge gets a title, I want one saying 'Fake Mod Emeritus'. Or 'Bitter'

whoa, that was weird, I came back in here and saw a thread with the title "Yahhh!! Was April Fools good for you?" by Thraxwhirl, and thought OMG! Someone's hacked my account, and is starting threads in my name!

Then I discovered it's the same old thread of yesterday, but the title's been edited again.

In response to my question - how sureal is this, eh? - was April Fool's day good?

Yeah, it was. I especially enjoyed the Banners, and Raven stepping down as mod had me, though I didn't believe the appointment of Darth_Ignant. Sorry, Paul. Loved yer pink n' white colours though.

KK's editing of "the" was a scream. I hope and pray you didn't take that policy to 'Fan Fic' though. Imagine the outcry there'd have been!! but and too.

Best of all was the "Prince n' Pauper routine by AdamBertocci and Mace Windy. That was priceless! I only spotted it 'cos Mace posted in this very thread, and I saw the words "Rick McCallum loves you!" in his post.

That was the best gag of all though. Nice and subtle.

Hmmm, thinking about it... Adam(should you chance upon this post) - I know you're a Blackadder fan...

Remember "the Prince and the Porpois"? LOL!

Anyway, in summary, I thought this year's April Fool's Day was a smash.

I am now in lurking fear over what the mods will do to us next year though.

Edit: one final point, are 'edit' times going to be set back to 90 mins? ? Just noticed they're still set at 5.

I agree with Jeff. This was a weak April Fools day. None of the jokes were particularly interesting or fun, except for Adam and Windy trading heads. Also I am not a big fan of ending the stuff at NOON on the day of. We don't take down the holiday banner at noon on Christmas. Lord knows I had to suffer through the inside-of-the-spleen pink Valentine's Day theme past noon on that day.

Still I am not sure people were particularly inspired to do much. I think a lot of mods are still affected by the whole Philip Wise thing.

 

The fact that the banners and everything are gone early just means that they're probably planning something else for later, hoping to trick guillible people.

 

Actually, I do believe it's tradition that April Fool's gags are supposed to stop at noon. Time-honoured custom and all.

Christmas and valentine's Days however stop at midnight. That's why they didn't take those banners down at noon.

(my edit time just expired) What I must assume to be the MS banner came up in Comms just now. It had a Fett, and Jawa's with what looked like scrolls. Nice banner.

 

Is it even possible for April Fools to be good? And more to the point, is it even possible for an a message board April Fools to be good? I mean, they only have so many options, and changing banners and colours are only funny so many times.

But if I sound too harsh, then... uh... April Fools, and so forth.

Good point, gabe. I'd forgotten to mention the CNN banner in my post of appreciation for this year's AF shennanighans. Yeah, it was sweeeet. I personally wasn't fooled, but that thought that some went and checked to see if Ep3 had been cancelled has me 'tickled pink'. LOL!

Raven, yes, it's true; thank you for backing me up. I believe the custom(I dunno how old it is) states that if one attempts an April Fool after 12pm then one is officially the "April Fool" for having overstepped the cutoff. I do not know however if historically there was some forfeit to be undertaken for this infraction in times of yore.

Oh, and curse you for suckering me into thinking you'd retired! Grrrr!

April Fool's Day isn't over for me since it's still April 1.

 

Although this was fun, the Ep3 footage on the main page is better.
