    As I said, quite simple.

How Thrawn found that idea that the Emperor was battle coordinating his fleets at Endor ?

    From two sources :
1)He found data on the Battle Meditation used by Bastila (the Emperor himself was heavily inspired by this....)

2)In the Outer Rim, before Endor, a battle group lead by Thrawn once fell on an quite strange outlier group, meeting with an even stranger ship...(Yuutzan Vong and mercs they hired....with a yammosk...)

    How about:

    3) He examined the fleet movements at the Battle of Endor and came to the conclusion that it had to be Force-related because nothing else made sense.

    Or:

    4) When he ambushed the Outbound Flight Project, the ships (I'm assuming for the sake of this argument that there were several ships assigned to OFP) showed a higher level of coordination than anything he'd encountered before - until the flagship was destroyed.

    Or:

    5) The Unknown Regions are swarming with fleets that are part of a hive mind.

The bottom line: Hey, it's your fic and you're free to make up whatever you want.

    Agree with lazykbys_left 3 and 4.

Perhaps Thrawn noticed that the performance of Imperial personnel went up when the Emperor was present and, after factoring in the ?fight harder because the Emperor is watching? element, found there was still an unaccounted for increase. He might have noticed something similar with Outbound Flight (probably had fighters and shuttles), when he hit the bridge of the Dreadnaught the conglomerate was being flown and commanded from the performance dropped by more than it should.

Lord Vader could probably have also been boosting and coordinating his men, and there have been a similar difference in performance.

Or Thrawn might have (also) been disappointed in the performance of an officer he?d had assigned to the Hand of Thrawn. The officer had acted with great skill in an engagement where the Emperor was present, but never quite managed to recapture that same level of brilliance under Thrawn.

So a pattern emerged and Thrawn did the research (perhaps helped by knowing it might be Force related if he?d had the Outbound Flight example as well), and found the information on Battle Mediation.
