I'm talking about The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, or LXG. It's widely considered to be one of the best comics of recent years, and if you don't know anything about it, here's a synopsis:
Set in a version of Victorian Era England (1900) where many characters of fiction actually exist, this is the story of a band of unusual figures brought together by the royal government, whom are famous literary figures (from our point of view): Dr. Jekyll, the Invisible Man, Captain Nemo, Mina Harker, and the adventurer famous for finding King Solomon's Mines, Allan Quatermain, who serves as the group's leader. The reason for their being brought together is to foil a madman's evil plans for world domination by turning the nations of the world against each other in something called a "World War".
Anyway, the film version stars Sean Connery (as Allan Quatermain), Stuart Townsend, Peta Wilson, and Shane West, and opens July 11. Clickie for a look at the latest trailer.

Along the same "British fictional character" theme, the official site for the film Van Helsing opened up with a cool flash intro featuring some cool artwork of Frankenstein's monster, the Wolfman, and Dracula. If you're not familiar with Van Helsing, he was the vampire hunter from Bram Stoker's Dracula and was played by Sir Anthony Hopkins. In this new film, we will be played by Hugh "Wolverine" Jackman.
