    Bail Organa.

It seems to me that with all the focus on Luke and his story in the OT, Anakin and Padme's story in the PT, it would seem fairly natural to center the TV show around Leia and her father.... making a stronger connection to Alderaan so you really get involved when it goes kaboom.

It would seem to make sense. They've got Smits, a television actor. The character has been against the growing Empire from the beginning, the comics show him to be involved in what I imagine to be the foundings of the Rebellion, he's basically a clean slate storywise, you can center it around him, instead of Leia, and see her growing without it being ABOUT her, and he can come across any Jedi that make it through the purge, and we can see the Rebellion grow. So, when ANH comes around everything is perfectly bridged. You care when Alderaan blows up. You know who Leia is and how she grew up and got where she is, and how she is. You've seen the Death Star being built, despite Bail and his people's attempts to stop it, you can show the growth and depth of the Empire's corruption from a political point of view as well as an action point of view.

My two cents. Give Jimmy something to do! Heck, you can have Aayla, who has been rumored to be talking to folks about the show, survive the purge and go into hiding with Bail as a behind-the-scenes confidant and aide, being the action side to his political side. Although, if you read the comics, Bail can hold his own too.

Good idea. But if they do set the timeline of the TV Show between ROTS and ANH, instead of limiting the story to the upbringing of Leia, why not have a triple plotted story line? We'll see Leia growing into womanhood under the tutelage of Bail, as you spoke of, then we switch over to that familiar moisture farm back on Tatooine to watch a young Luke Skywalker learn to manuever Beggar's Canyon, and shoot womp rats, then the trifecta, follow the tales of the Jedi Purge with Vader and Sidious, with little EU references and cameos every now and then. It could all lead up to Vader capturing Leia, and Luke whining like a 6 year old girl about how he wanted to go to Toshi Station to pick up some power converters.

But then aren?t they back to developing a kid?s show? If you have little Luke and Leia running around their respectful planets, then you?re dealing with Leia?s crush on her first boyfriend, Luke getting grounded for breaking something, and Bail turns into the ?Danny Tanner? father figure that delivers the moral at the end of the story.

I think you?re right that a triple story line should be used, but to gear it towards the older Star Wars fans, they will have to utilize story lines that revolve around Bail, Vader, and other older characters. At least until further along in the series when Luke and Leia are older.
