I've been giving it alot of thought, and I'm thinking of playing with a dream Card in my next match against my brother, of course I'm going to let him do the same. I was thinking, I have 2 Podracer Rule Cards(1 dark, 1 Light) and I could use one to represent a dream card I would have designed on a seperate peice of paper.

Is this a good idea, and has any of you done this before? If so, how'd it turn out.

I TRIED playing with Dream Cards once, but it soon became obvious that it just wouldn't be any fun. My buddy who was going along with this is a big fan of Imperial space and the X-wing computer games, and at that time, TIE Defenders hadn't hit the game yet. So he made his own dream TIE Defenders. I don't remember everything about them, except for 3 key things. 1) It had a suspendable permanent pilot, years before any were introduced to the game (actually, there was a non-unique, possibly *** TIE Defender Ace that could suspend the Defender permanent pilot). Not actually important, but we thought it was really cool when Bespin Defense Fighters came out with the idea that we came up with over two years before. 2) Tallon Roll had not yet been errata'd to work only with TIE/ln's. Any Imperial starfighter, these Defender DC's included, were fair game. 3(and this is the kicker) Dark Maneuvers targeting it was cumulative.

Tallon Roll with cumulative Dark Maneuvers. Somehow not the most balanced combo ever. I had to design my dream cards to counter this threat, which really just nullified it (my dream cards ended up being mostly superpowered indie fighters). This went back and forth and instead of making dream cards that were balanced counterparts, we just made magic bullets targeting each others magic bullets.

Actually, there was one other time I wanted to play with a dream card. When I was first getting into the game, right after the release of Dagobah, I was looking through my friend's collection (same friend as before), and I thought that Commander Evram Lajaie looked like a sort of ape-man, the Missing Link, if you will. Also, the non-unique Rebel Commander, with his oversized handlebar moustache, looked like a circus ringleader, the sort who would shill a freakshow to passersby at a carnival. The dreamcard I wanted to use would have been an Interrupt that allowed Commander Evram Lajaie and the Rebel Commander to hold a circus sideshow, where all Dark Side characters present would be drawn to attend, losing 1 Force each as 'admission' (allowing me to retrieve the same amount), and would be so enthralled by The Monkey Man that they would be unable to battle, move, use their game text, or use their ability for battle destiny until the end of my next turn. My buddy wasn't going for it though, and as the newbie, I didn't get my way.

Can't say I ever have, though I remember my friend once wrote in black marker "Obi-Wan" on one of his Rebel Guards since he didn't want to play with his rare main character.

However, we used to play with insanely huge decks. I think the biggest we ever went was 250 cards. We started with 16 or 20 card hands and 6 starting locations (pre-objective). It was a blast. We were probably up until 3 in the morning playing cards. Ah, yes, great memories. Great memories.

Only all night with 250 card decks? Pffft. We had decks about that size that went on for a whole weekend, and then had to be packed up in such a way that would allow us to lay it back out the next weekend when we still hadn't finished. We played with one copy of every location a side had, and you were required to put out all your locations as soon as you could. Converted locations went into the Used Pile, so they could get converted back. Starting locations were still just 1 (this was back in the Hoth era), but starting hands were 20 if I remember right. Grimtaash/Monnok still knocked it down to 8 though, so they were absolutely lethal. And we played sans Force drains and attrition, which probably explains the lengthy game times.

They did provide for much cooler moments than most of the 60-card games I've played though. Probably the best was our recreation (bastardization?) of the Battle Of Yavin. The Death Star was coming in to toast Yavin, and I, the LS, was about to throw everything into blowing it up before that could happen. Since we had no attrition, and with 250 card decks and no drains, it wasn't hard to find stuff to soak battle damage with, the only way to get rid of your opponent's key people was weapons fire. I was having a hard time mustering up much defense at the Yavin War Room. I did the best I could with the tools at hand, and put a Rebel Trooper with a backpack and about 20 guns at the War Room with my one Rebel Tech. With every location in the game out, having the Force to fire was no problem (the problem was walking down the hallway we had to set up out siteline in, trying to count up all the Force icons every turn). I had Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ellorrs Madak flying a Y-wing to make the Run, and Chewie and Han on the Falcon with Fusion Generator Supply Tanks and Special Modifications. I moved to the Death Star, and got my buddy to agree not to battle me there on his next turn, just so we could try out the Attack Run. What he DOES do, is plop a Stormtrooper at the War Room (there was an Undercover spy there, just waiting to let people in, and here was me with 20 guns and no Sorry About The Mess). I figure whatever, what can the stormtrooper do against my one-man armored division? Not much besides intiate the battle, really. The meat of it came when a Blizzard Walker used its AT-AT Cannon to fire into the battle and killed my Tech. I was worried, but I figured it was just ONE to my total, so it wasn't a significant blow. I made the Run with Ben in the lead and the Falcon on my wing, with A Few Maneuvers played on it and a Hear Me Baby, Hold Together in hand, so there was no way for it to get hit. I make the destiny draws, and what's my total? 13. I needed > 13. EXACTLY enough to miss, and it would have been 14 if it weren't for that damned Stormtrooper getting my Tech killed! ARGH! Next turn at the Death Star, I get battled straight to hell. Vader in his TIE kills the Falcon, and a tractor beam snags Obi's wishbone. Oh and let's not forget CPI toasting Yavin. Ugh. Not a good day to be the Light Side.

Well, I have two brothers, and a couple of times we played 2 on 1. They both made a 60 card deck, one of them focusing on ground troops, and the other focusing on starships. I made a 120 card deck with both types, and it went Brother #1, Me, Brother #2, Me and so on. They were allowed do share force but have two seperate used piles, so the cards didn't get mixed. And everytime I attacked on the ground, Brother #1 would take any damage or attrition, and if it attacked in space, Brother #2 would. Force Drains too. It was a long game, but it was one of the only times I was ever close to losing to them.

Does anyone acutually computer draw them? That's what I do. I've created/modified almost 60 dream cards. Can't have them on the web though cause of copywrite laws and Decipher coming down hard on people who do post them. That's the part I enjoy doing is making them look like the originals. Some of the cards I've made they've released, ie Trawn, Ackbar Coruscant etc. and my game text on a few have been very close to what was officially released.

I used to have photoshop on my compy and made dream cards. Almost the same as Deciphers game. Although Im not a big EU fan, I used alot of things from the EU. Characters, ships, etc. It was pretty cool, photoshop works great for it.
Makes it easier for the lightside player when they have Dreadnaughts and Mon Cal Cruisers fighting Star Destroyers. I built like 3 or 4 decks of both light and darkside before my compy crashed and I lost everything =(

That's too bad. I thought I lost mine once. I had stuck my parents HD in my comp to reformat it and my comp rearranged the drives cause their's had a OS on it so it bumped my 2nd HD back a letter. Formatted everything I had. I was heartbroken. Then about 4 days later while I was on a business trip in england I remembered I had them all backed up on a CD. Rejoice! I was saved. I did all mine in MSPaint and they look just like the real deal too. I've messed around with a few in photoshop but mostly do all my CCG work in Paint. It's been good to me so far.

I used to make actual-images on the comp for some dream cards (some of, if not, the first image dream cards I believe), started off making some of some friends images that were already edited into a star wars kinda way, then continued on to make some ID4 cards (including two epic events that were pretty cool IMO) and then made a couple based on a star wars sim I ran on AOL at the time.

Since then I've made a few Babylon 5-themed ones (gonna have to revise my ambassadors with a politics value though...) which you can probably find the topic for on these boards if you dig far enough back.

Been considering doing some Starcraft and maybe even some Farscape ones too.

Starcraft, eh? How about this one:

    SCV
    LS Terran (new character type)
    Destiny 2
Lore: Though near-useless in combat, Terran SCVs form the backbone of the Confederacy. Their resource-harvesting and repairing skills are second to none. Keep the Terran war machine running.
    Power 1 Ability 1
    Deploy 2
    Forfeit 2
Game Text: Your Force generation at same site is +1. Once per turn, a starship, non-creature vehicle, or droid present with this SCV (or a starship or non-creature vehicle he is aboard) just 'hit' may be restored to normal (any effects of the targeting or 'hit' are canceled).

I just made this one, and I'm especially proud of it. It's the one card Decipher should have added to the Tatooine set.

    Yay, now for post 5000.

I've made some dream cards and I have meant to play with them but never have (yet). Maybe someday... some of my friends have made cards as well and it's fun coming up with new ones that affect each other.

I did? How did you figure that out? There's no list of how many posts there are on this forum, unless you count up the individual posts on each thread.

Bib, if you have SW:CCG as one of your fav. boards, like I do, the opening page tells you exactly how many threads and posts. I saw there was exactly 4,000, so I cam to see who made the last post, and it was you with the link to that awsome CCG Dream Card!

Ah. I never go to my favorite board list; I simply type in the URL for each board. It make it much easier and faster to switch between boards when I'm scanning for topics to post in.
