I completely heart this show. This is what children's stories ought to be: adventure and fun and yet not afraid to deal with real, hard issues like genocide and child abuse and murder.

I have the first 2 seasons on DVD and I'm waiting for the third to come out. I can't wait for the new episodes. Literally. I've watched the Western Temple and the two parts of Boiling Rock already. If the last episodes are anything like these 3 - and from the trailer they look like they'll be better - Avatar: the Last Airbender is really going to go out with a bang.

BTW, who else thinks Zuko=Anakin; Azula=Palpatine (complete with Sith lightning to boot)?

Question: Can anyone recap the inbetween Season 2 & 3 comic book for me? I'm particularly interested in the rumours that in it, Azula set up Mai and Zuko.

No, it's not Azula. Actually, that is(spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen "The Boiling Rock" parts 1 and 2 yet), Suki. Sokka and Zuko rescued both her and Sokka's father from prison.

Actually, I would say that Zuko is more of a combination of Anakin and Darth Vader. Anakin, because Zuko and Anakin both have scars, they both have mentors who they don't tend to listen to alot(Obi-Wan, Uncle Iroh), they both lost their mothers(well, the jury's still out on whether Zuko's mom is still alive), and because they're both angsty teenagers who can have somewhat 'explosive' tempers, sometimes. Vader, is a little more obvious, since both Vader and Zuko used to be, shall we say 'evil' in the first part of their stories and then they both redeem themselves in the third parts of their respective 'trilogies'. Also, Vader and Zuko were both hunting people in the first parts of their stories(Vader was after Luke and the Rebels, Zuko was after Aang, or as Zuko called him in season 1, "The Avatar").

Azula, I would say she is more like a combination of Vader(when he was still evil, intimdating and trash-talking people a little bit during fights), Darth Maul(incredible skills in combat, warrior attitude, and sometimes, can be a little scary)and Count Dooku(intelligence, finesse, knowledge of politics, and cold, calculating ways).

Firelord Ozai, is more like Palpaptine than Azula is, since he has much stronger lightning than her(remember "Day of Black Sun",Part 2?). He's also almost like the "Emperor" of the Fire Nation. Another thing I found ironic about Ozai, is that he's voiced by Mark Hamill, who we all know as having played the ultimate good guy in the Original Star Wars trilogy as Luke Skywalker, and in Avatar, he's playng the ultimate bad guy as Firelord Ozai.

Higher quality version of Aang's "personalized" Commercial here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9cDoAWHBrw

Notice how deep Aang's voice is here. He's still voiced by the same kid(Zach Tyler Eisen), but he's actually 14 or 15 now(puberty!), so what they have been doing in the actual show during season 3, is that they've been pitching his voice up to make him sound slightly younger(I read this in an interview with the creators of the show). Apparantly, they didn't do that in this commercial, though. I don't mind it. I think the deeper voice makes Aang sound more serious and much more mature, and if he has this deeper voice during the finale, I'll be able to actually buy that he can hold his own against Firelord Ozai and take him down without thinking he's still just some little kid.

And if you're wondering where I'm getting all these links and information from, go to AvatarSpirit.net. It's a fan website that I think is partly run by some people who actually work on the show. That's why it gets all of the news and updates about the show so quickly. Link to it here: http://www.avatarspiritmedia.net/

    Nice links.

Phoenix King, eh? I suppose that will be the title for ruler of the world, while Azula will be the Firelord, head of the Fire Nation.

Yeah, The whole "Phoenix King" title that Ozai seems to have made up kinda reeks of him getting a little too big for his britches. I also think the "Phoenix King" title may be symbollically significant as well, because what a phoenix does is that it burns itself to death, and rises from its ashes to become new and go through another life cycle. I think this may correlate with what Ozai is trying to do with the rest of the world; To basically destroy it, and from its ashes, he can create a new Worldwide Empire that is run by him or something. Just my theory.

I got spoiled on the finale ending. A lot of it is good from what I read, but THE big moment seemed kind of like a let down for me. I'll have to wait to I actually see it though, hopefully it's better on the screen than in words!

Don't worry. Remember, that book was written for little kids(like 5-7 year olds), so it's not very specific and alot of the details are skimmed over or not even talked about. For example, in the book, King Bumi isn't mentioned at all, whereas in one of the new commercials promoting the Finale episodes, it is shown that he is CLEARLY there!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Be56ur2k9Y4 So, there is the possibility of there being alot more things shown in the actual episodes than what that book had. Also, keep in mind that the book was an adaptation aimed at children, like a storybook. It wasn't meant to be a word for word, scene for scene copy of the script from the actual episodes put into book form. We of all people should know that novelizations almost never end up being EXACTLY like the finished product(the TPM,AOTC,and ROTS novels are examples).

    The Zuko=Anakin & Vader was implied. :p

I think Ozai is what Luke would have have been if he had killed Palpatine and still become a Sith Lord. :D

Does it help that Mark Hamill is the one who voices Ozai?

BRAND NEW "Sozin's Comet" Finale commercial with never before seen clips!(High Quality)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR8wRgQsHHc

WOW!! From the way this looks, the creators decided to go all out with this Finale and not hold back, what with Aang talking about "killing" the Firelord,Zuko twitching on the ground in pain after apparantly being shot with lightning(you can kinda see a wound in his chest if you pause the video between 0:10-0:11), and all of the general epic battling and total destruction. If this commercial is any indication,it seems that the Finale is going to be WAY darker, and at the same time WAY more intense than any other episode in the entire series. Also, its 2 HOURS!! 2 hours of Avatar epicness!? I can't wait.

Kinda sux that they're billing this as the series finale, though. What does this bode for the live-action movie? Given Shyamalan's streak to-date, will he even be helming the movie?

Yea, the whole live-action Avatar movie idea sounds kinda lame to me. I think it'll ruin the entire series.

:_|I'll be at camp when the finale airs. At least I get to see SR and EIP before my sister does. [face_devil] She's at camp this week.

I wonder when the Zutara ninjas come into play. SR? I also noticed in the latest finale trailer that when Zuko is injured, Katara starts running to him from the sidelines. In the next frame, it seems Azula is attacking her. Perhaps this is when Azula and Katara have their showdown. [face_thinking] Makes sense to me.

Isn't the live-action trilogy just supposed to be a summary of the series?

Is it just me or the Gaang way too trusting of Zuko? Aang accepts him after what could have so easily been a setup to gain his trust. Then one day later, he goes off with Zuko alone to God knows where? Even Katara after all her threatening doesn't raise any objection.

The Gaang are really lucky that Zuko means well otherwise they had just handed the Avatar to the enemy in a silver platter.
