    "As oldest son, if Zuko gets his honour back he;s going to be the next Fire Lord and I cannot see her accepting that too readily. My guess is she's playing him."

    Somebody wasn't listening to his uncle...[face_whistling]

    "Yes you capture the bison. Then what?!? You don't think ahead, Zuko!"

    I think it's Zuko is going to spend the next season being kicked around.

    First, all that empathy he worked up last season for the people of the earth kingdom is going to get abused when he's part of Azula's idea of ruling.

    Next he's going to find out what really happened to his mother.

    I'd feel bad for him but he betrayed Iroh, who, as I've said, is made of awesome.

    Which means my original theory may come to pass after all...[face_thinking]
    Word. I just recalled the episode where Iroh and Zuko opened a can on a troop of Earthbenders, only Iroh did so without having to resort to Firebending...

    I came up with a new theory the other day; what if Azula is taking Zuko along so that when Ozai asks why she hasn't got the Avatar either, she can blame it on Zuzu and because she's the favorite daddy will believe her?

    And the only pairing I ship is Momo/Appa. With possibly Bosco the Earth King's bear to make it an interesting triangle.

    That's cool. If "Avatar" becomes an issue with regard to the film's title, perhaps they could rename it to "Aang, the Last Airbender".

    It would be close enough.

    They're making a movie about me? Yeaaaah!!

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/23/Tophnick.jpg]
    Don't get too excited, Twinkle Toes!

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3c/Sokka.jpg]
    I wonder who will be my love interest?

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/74/Avatar_-_The_Last_Airbender_203_Return_To_Omashu-Ty_Lee.jpg]
    Oooh! Pick me! Pick me!!!

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Zukoseasontwo.JPG]
    They better not give me a love interest. That would make me happy, and I hate being happy...

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fe/Kataraprofile.jpg]
    Maybe I should ask Aunt Wu about what my part will be like!

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/47/Avatar_-_The_Last_Airbender_115_Bato_Of_The_Water_Tribe_-_Appa.jpg]
    MMMMMMMMMMPH!!!! Translation: I find this over-reliance upon prophetic powers, and obsession over love interests to be rather perplexing...

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f3/Avatar_-_The_Last_Airbender_103_The_Southern_Air_Temple_-_Momo.jpg]
    rrrrrrrrr Translation: I agree most wholeheartedly with your assessment. I say, does anyone have any fruit?

    Cassandra-like, I predict doom upon this project.

    I mean, come on. Live action bending? Doesn't that just throw up power-ranger-esque mental images of weird cgi effects and mock kung fu? Speaking of cgi, what about Momo and Appa?

    The reason Avatar works is because it's a cartoon. That kind of action, character design, and world to me just does not translate well onto a live-action setting. Can you imagine, for example, Zuko and Katara's fight in Seige of the North in live action? Belief needs to be suspended in order for the concept to work and you're not going to have that in a live-action film. There is also the inescapable rule that live-action remakes are always highly dodgy.

    I am also worried about the director choice, but not having seen any of Shyamalan's films I'm not really qualified to talk about that.

    Overall though, my reaction all evening has been DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT AT ALL.

    Well i will reserve judgement on the movie until i see it. I think with the rich charaterzation that the Avatar series has can make a movie. Im not sure if the director of choice is able to do it though i have liked one movie from him and thats Signs. The others like the village was not very good.

    I thought Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were phenomenal. Still, his collection of directorial works is rather small, so it's quite reasonable to reserve judgment.

    I would like to see how it translates to the big screen. What suprises me is that this decision is being made so soon. Avatar has only gone through two seasons, right?

    Marchish I think.

    But I haven't watched most of the episodes, so I've got somehting with which to fill the time.

    Been getting into Avatar more lately, it's Livi-Wan's fault.

    I've just finished watching Book I and Book II of Avatar on the Internet (since the show hasn't started airing over here yet and will most likely not arrive in a long time) and I was completely blown away! :eek:

    In the past few years, children's shows seemed to become stupider and stupider, with minimalistic style animation, very simple plots (or, even better, no plot at all) stereotypical characters that one didn't care about and even more stupid life-lessons duck-taped to the episodes, which always stand out like sore thumbs. I was always wondering where the gems of my childhood (eg. Thunder Cats, SWAT Kats Wildfire etc) went, dragged down and drowned in a sea of crap. [face_frustrated]

    However, all yhose frustrations were forgotten when I set eyes on Avatar: The Last Airbender. The rich, vibrant world (a refreshing and tonic mix of Ancient Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Inuit and Indian culture & spirituality) along with a captivating hero's journey type plot and a stellar cast of very-well developed, fleshed-out and non-stereotypical characters got me hooked even from the very first episodes that I've watched. Unlike most shows that I've watched, Avatar did only what Star Wars had succeeded before - to make me genuinely care and worry for the characters, to root for them to overcome their obstacles and to want to throttle the villains. The emotional impact was so great that at the end of Crossorads of Destiny, I had been turned into a shacking, quivering, nearly weeping mess, constantly asking "Why Zuko, why?" (a reaction which was caused only by two other films, ROTS and ROTJ).

    Right now, I'm eagerly awaiting the start of Book III: Fire and hoping that the brilliant writers of this show will continue to amaze me with the depth of the story that they are weaving. I have just one request for them: please stop tormenting poor Zuko, he's been through too much already - just put the hurting on Azula instead! :mad:

    Welcome to the fold Rhodna.

    btw, I don't know if you guys here have noticed, but most Avatar videos on youtube have been deleted as part of a copyright issue with viacom. And I'm not just talking about episodes, I mean music videos as well. It's the same for other Nick cartoons like Danny Phantom as well.

    Some of my fav music videos are gone now, which is really annoying.
