Since the General Prohibition on Force, Article 2(4) of the UN Charter came into being in 1945, there has only been one declared war between nation states.

Anyone know when that was? :)

US is really flogging the 'PR' angle on this war, so I doubt they'd pull the same trick they did on the terrorists in Afghanistan.

    ummm.. Iran/Iraq??

    Fauklands??

    Honduras/El Salvador?

    Pepsa v Coke?

They slap a 'war' tag on everything these days - it's hard to tell.

Soon the "Battle for Baghdad" will begin. It will be interesting to see it unfold. Could get nasty. Let's hope casualties on all sides are low. You would have thought, but, that by now we would have progressed past the need for killing each over to solve our disputes :_|

Did you know, that the original title of 'War And Peace' was 'War, what is it good for?' ?

My brother rang up at midnight the other night from Townsville to notify my parents he was drafted for immediate Gulf duty. So more naval ships are going...

    "Drafted"?

Did you guys get the interviews with POW's families on TV. I was disgusted. These people had just found out that their brother had been captured and were dealing with this awful news on national television. I guess you could argue that they didn't have to go on TV, but what kind of depths will the media sink to in order to get a "story".

Nothing would hurt their families more than seeing them on TV like that I bet. That would be the worst place anyone would see a loved one, I feel really sorry for them all.

Kehleyr: What do you mean 'drafted'?

I think he meant they got their orders to ship out. I'm guessing he was already in the Navy.

Drafted means pulled off another assignment and shoved on this one...

He was on Manoora doing exercises off Townsville, was transferred to the Tobruk last week and is on the way to Noumea. Now he has to fly to meet the Newcastle and gets no leave. He has had none since he joined the Navy in Jan 2002.

Now the Human Shields, ready to die as martyrs for their belief in Peace, are coming home because it's "getting too dangerous" in Baghdad.

Did you read the Newcastle Herald today? :) That wasn't you that wrote in to the paper yesterday about the slogans all over the Uni, was it? :)

    Nope, not me, Wedge.

    What did it say ?

p.s. Why did they write to the Herald and not the Uni paper? Because the Uni paper is run by the Green Left Feminist Socialist Resistance Books Not Bombs No War people*. If it's not a love letter to Che Guevara, it won't get printed.

    * Not that there's anything wrong with that ... some of my best friends are Green Left Feminist Socialist Resistance Books Not Bombs No War people...

Ok, nobody knows the answer to the war question?

Arab States vs Israel, late 1948! :D

And Che Guevara hated homosexuals and put them in labour camps. Tell them that! [face_devil]

And Israel kicked their ass too!

Hmmm...Che Guevara hey, yeah he was one crack-sniffing lunatic, for sure. So were his buddies in comradery, like Lenin, Stalin, Marx...God where do i start?

Well, start by telling me when Israel didn't kick someone's ass. And yes, that includes liquidating refugee camps with helicopter gunships. [face_plain]

marv, those two words of yours, "again" and the other one - they don't rhyme, btw. :p
