Wow, so you don't think Yoda could get back in shape for the role? I'm so sick of all this ageism, we saw the same nonsense with Hamill, Fisher, and Ford when they announced VII.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Right! He looks fantastic. Some protein shakes and a week at the gym, and he'll be standing on the feet of people doing handstands just as well as anyone else.

Still looks better than the TPM puppet (I jest).

Seriously, after the way the TFA team brought back Chewie and Akbar, I've got no doubts they can replicate the original closely enough. The "good enough" approach applied to chubby Palps and WTF Chewie seems to be a thing of the past, fingers crossed (although Nien Nunb looked like he could he do with a few slap up meals).

If they made the CGI version look like the puppet version, then yes. CGI, prequel Yoda was too refined and over-animated in my opinion. It got to a stage where he had to do a dramatic facial expression or action with every line of dialogue or grunt.

Well it's not like Yoda will be back in flesh so why not make him CGI if he has to be shown as a force ghost if at all? Obi-Wan was a voice in Luke's head for a while before showing himself as a Force Ghost.

Because even though he's going to be blue and somewhat translucent, it still needs to hold a certain amount of presence. And as we saw in TESB and RotJ, the closer the ghosts get the more solid they appear to be.

That's not true. Lucas went half-assed with the directing and didn't bother getting a decent puppet performance out of Frank Oz. Not to mention, Yoda's look was way off...he looked like he was two hundred years younger and not ancient looking like he was in TESB. That's what was really wrong with him, but Lucas was too blind to see that, I guess.

An encounter (past or present) between Yoda and Maz would be very cool.

What are you considering as an "encounter"? I apologize, but the statement set up a visual in my head that I cannot unthink, so a little help here ...

    A verbal exchange.

Maybe Yoda taught about the Force be Maz never trained to become a Jedi. Yoda might tell her "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can."

A verbal conversation concerning the Force.

if he's only appearing as a Force ghost, and especially only as a cameo, I'd guess he won't have to do much other than talk. That being the case, I'd think a CG Yoda would work fine. CG looks much better now than in 2002. And I will say that if the TPM CG Yoda (blu ray version) is anything to go by, I'm sure it will look quite realistic enough!

Yoda will be a cool addition to the episode if he is in fact in it. His last act before he becomes completely one with the Force is to officially proclaim Luke a Jedi Master and possibly Knight a few other folks. I could dig that.

I think it would be neat to hear him say to Luke

Yoda: "Last time for me to return to this place, this is...Pass on to the other side, I must...Master Skywalker, train her, her destiny this is."

Luke: "Yes, I will...thank you Master Yoda...May the force be with you."

    or something like this ;)

Really don't want to see Yoda in the new trilogy, especially not if they'd try to go the puppet route. It would be incredibly jarring...

Why would a Yoda puppet be jarring? Last time we saw him in the SW chronology (ROTJ) he was...a puppet.

How would it be jarring? You go from puppet to puppet. Wouldn't it not being a puppet be jarring?

Because this is 2016 and I don't want to see a muppet force ghost. It looks insanely fake and doesn't move well.

That muppet is one of the most recognizable and beloved characters in film history. "Insanely fake" is probably not the description most viewers would apply to it.
