His speech patterns are even weirder than they are in the films. They seem to add "Hmm?" onto the end of every sentence and some kind of demonic laugh.
This show has totally misused Yoda. When I watched "Ambush" I thought that Yoda was going to be fun and very active. But NOOOOOO... here we have one of the most iconic Star Wars characters and the best the show do with him is put him in a chair for Four seasons. They make him spit out lines that make Yoda seem like "Mr. Obvious" and he is not what Yoda was. One of the many reasons people hate the Prequels - they make iconic character sit and talk only. There have been many instances in the EU where Yoda has been used very wisely and has been portrayed as very fascinating character. In the show, he is a one-trick pony that done nothing since the premiere of the entire series. Shameful. I was so happy when he finally was out of the temple and talked like his own mystical self on Illum. That was so refreshing.
say what you will -- but didn't he participate in at least 2 of the greatest duels in SW history??? sit and talk only?
It's funny that Mace has such a fanbase despite coming out with the dumbest things; "I sense a plot to destroy the jedi." Well done Windu. My heart is telling me to argue with Dan Tikkes and defend Master Yoda because I love the character. But Dan is right. There have been too many instances of deus ex machina, or having the obvious explained by the supposed wisest jedi in the galaxy. I also agree that it was nice to see the real Yoda in Ambush and again in The Gathering. It is in stark contrast to the GT Clone Wars in which Yoda was awesome all the time.
It's kinda obvious that a lot of that fanbase is because he's sam jackson and everyone likes playing with his words and scenes.
I would certainly like to see more of Yoda in TCW. He's only had one episode so far. Wish I had more to say on this. <<;
Yoda/Sids vs Maul/Savage I want to see more of the "great warrior" we heard about in ESB. The wise Jedi Grand Master. I think Ambush did a pretty good job with this, too bad they haven't done anymore like it.
Yoda-yoda-yoda-yoohoo!!! Sit on a chair I do Watch people die I do Blind, I AM Waiting for Luke, I must, Jedi can die. theheheheeeheheeeh Wish he didn't look as lame in TCW But some of his lines are ok.
Mad, but I approve of a little poetry now and then. Agreed. To be fair, maybe TCW team were worried about over using Yoda and cheapening him. The temptation would be to give him too much kick-ass moments instead of unveiling him rarely. Perhaps Filoni has just been playing it safe and we'll see Yoda rescue Ahsoka from Hondo. Edit: The 5.8 Discussion Thread blows that theory out the water
To be fair, we all would like to see MORE of Yoda doing stuff cause he has been in almost every arc but he has been just sitting in a chair. A total boring coach potato who was just spitting "Mr. Obvious" lines.
There was some great Yoda action in Ambush, but since then he has not done a big lot action wise. It would be nice for there to be another episode with him in action or even an arc.
I still wish I had more to say about Yoda in TCW but he'd actually need to do some more things. I can only state the obvious.
He was briefly in the Zillo Beast Strikes Back too swinging his saber... would have been cool to see a square-off between the warrior and the dragon...
I was thinking about buying this for my kindle but wasn't sure. I aasume you think it's good? What is it about the book you think could have worked in TCW, anything specific?
Dark Rendezvous is one of the few SW books I like enough to keep. And yes, there should be more Yoda in TCW. Ambush was way misleading for a first episode, and I don't get why he's being underused. Kids like him, the older fans like him. What's the prob, TCW writers?
That episode was too amazing and it gave us false hope that TCW crew would treat Yoda the way he should be treated and used on the show in the way he should be used.
